joe took control of his own career b/c his promoter at the time wanted him to fight pavlik which he wanted no part of.

    anyway, congrads joe.

you deserve the award for the Biggest Waste of Talent.

    cheers!

Im from the U.K. and i can say from a boxing point of view he is not loved say like Nas and Hatton are, and its quite simple why...
No one cares for the '0' anymore all fans want is knockouts and excitment 2 things Calzaghe didn't bring at all. (and that horrible slapping)

Look at his fights- Kessler - had a broken hand
Manfredo - god my mates who dont even follow boxing were embarrased.
Hopkins - old - dont give me that pavlik rubish, yes he beat him but i think kelly looked and fought like his nickname.
    Bika - just no
    Lacy - hype hype hype
Jones - well the quote in his autobiography makes him look a fool.

You have to realise since hes retired now all of a sudden hes doing all these promos and tv shows over here when there is nothing to him, very boring comes off as dumb, hes a just a boring fighter with an incredible workrate.

To be honest if a random person looked at his record they would be amazed, decade long champion won all 4 belts 2xweight ring champion.

You know any fighter throught the history of the sport with a record like that would normally be classed as one of the all time greats but the fact there is so much agrument shows he just didn't bring it.

Well you should be clear, he reigned over the WBO side of the division for a decade.

He only got every belt in his division in his last fight, and never defended them.

    NOBODY.
He beat all that he had to at 168.
Moved up to heavy to milk the cash cow for 2 fights like he said he would.
    Then retired.
But people seem to forget that he said that he would only fight twice more after Kessler. But still claim he is Ducking Chad, Pavlic and the rest.
You cant really duck someone if you are retired.
    ****ing idiots.

I really don't know what else he could have done at SMW, and even at LHW he still beat two of the top boxers in the division. Maybe he didn't beat lots of ATG's in their prime but that is circumstances fault rather than Calzaghe's I believe.

The problem though is that the Jones fight wasn't much of a cash cow as thankfully most people saw it for what it was. It did poor PPV sales and they had to virtually give tickets away to fill the venue.

I think the only people who gave the fight the time of day were Jones fans who were still clinging on the hope that maybe, just maybe Jones still had something left in the tank, he didn't, and Calzaghe fans who desperately wanted to convince themselves, and anyone who would listen, that this was a credible match up, it wasn't.

There are plenty of challenges now that he has gone. I'd love to see him come back.
