Day jobs don't always define a fighters ability...Andrade worked at Jack In the Box until recently.

You're right, but he is the ONLY UNDISPUTED Super Middle that's ever been. He became RING's ONLY SMW champ when he thumped Lacy. Got to call him number one.

he dominated that division, i really cant think of a super middle who dominated for what? 10 years like joe did?

there is a strong case for joe to be the best super middle in history

He beat 29 year old version of Hopkins, not the 43 year old grabber who lost TWICE to Jermaine Taylor years before they fought. He beat Virgil Hill via 4th round ko,a fighter that Michalczewski couldn't ko less than a year before. He beat tough Reggie Johnson and Montell Griffin. And he beat past it but still good Mike McCallum. No question Calzaghe was a great fighter and a first ballot Hall of Famer, but who is his best victim?43 year old 2 time Taylor victim B-Hop?Or never was Jeff Lacy(the other day,I boxrec'd HIS resume-crap)?Or Andre Ward victim Kessler?Or past it Eubank? In other words Calzaghe was a great fighter,no question. But his resume is not as good as Jones'.

    Top five.

    Not one. That's Roy Jones.

    But top five for sure.

i agree and disagree. jones was awesome at 168. however, he was not their long enought. joe spent most of his career their. joe wins overall at smw due to his ten year reign as the champ. also i had bhop beating taylor in both fights. plus hopkins looked amazing when he exposed pavlik. looked very fresh.

Read the quote...Hopkins was at Middleweight...McCallum was at Light Heavy. The thread here is how Calzaghe stacks as super middle...

Look, if I took both of there careers...obviously Jones was better by a mile...but a super middleweight itself, you got to give Calzaghe the edge. Hell, what can Calzaghe claim at Light Heavy? Oh wait, he did beat both Hopkins (who is still near prime, even at his age) and Jones. Still, Jones beat McCallum, Harding, Kelly, and Woods. Like I said, just at SMW.

I'll admit Joe Calzaghe deserves to be among the very best in Super Middleweight....

I guess next question would be...when did Joe Calzaghe become top 3 and number 1 all-time....

was it actually when he defeated Bernard Hopkins or Roy Jones....
