Ward has a win with cheating against a very inactive past prime Kessler, a win against a MW midget who was on a losing streak, a win against a statue called Green, a very close win against a ruined Bika, and a win against the slowest SMW in history 35yr old Froch. Then take a look at his defeat to Booneatsch Dawson shouldn't even count considering his glass jaw is atrocious and he was weight drained. Then we have the fact Ward is on PED's-(

Quantity is the main facet of Joe's record. It has quality in patches, but the patches are small.

quantity does not equal quality, and Calzaghe's record underlines this (only valid defences would be Kessler, Lacy, first Veit fight and Mitchell, and a draw/close call with Reid. POssibly tv show fighter Bika too, he wasnt bad at all).

Calzaghes been champ in the division for almost half of its more relevant years (1990s onward). So it would be a physically impossbile feat for anyone to match him on quantity. You need to wait another decade or two beofre you can use that argument. Until then Eubank, Froch and Ward have arguably more depth in resume if you are referring to quality not quantity.

Moreover the better fighters rapidly left the small pool of SMW for bigger fish. If they had stayed behind who knows what would have happened.

FInally Ottke the cheat hijacking two titles in Germany made it impossible to match Calzaghe until 10 years (Calzaghe's length of reign) after he was retired, and we havent even got to that time yet, so who could possbily start approaching Zaghes length of stay yet?
