Seriously, you can pretend all day long giving credit to Joe where he doesn't deserve it, but every man and his dog knows Jones was shot 4 years before that fight.

I think all the reasonable people already knew this before the fight, especially the last 2. A lot of people picking RJJ were probably picking him due to wishful thinking/nostalgia about how much he had left, a la Tyson-Lewis or even Ali-Holmes (I think Ali was actually the betting favorite in that fight despite how shitty he'd looked post 1975)

Calzaghe's chin is very good though, maybe not iron. Calzaghe is not a huge puncher, but I think he does have fairly heavy hands, so his arm punches and slaps can still do damage along with the activity. He also mixes in harder punches in with the slaps.

Splitting hairs between iron and great when it comes to Calzaghe's chin doesn't make much difference to me, but measuring it by knockdowns like some are (not you, Thread Stealer, just a general observation) misses the point. The most important measuring stick of a chin is the fighter's ability to fight the gameplan he wants to without letting it get sabotaged by the opposition's firepower, and the powers of recovery once he takes a huge shot.

And, make no mistake, Calzaghe's chin, by that practical definiton, is phenomenal. Don't underestimate the psychological effect it has on his opposition to land the best shot they can, only to see him right back in their face. Roy, Hopkins, Kessler, and Lacy have proven they can knock out guys if they land flush or, at worst, significantly alter their opponent's gameplans. They all landed loaded shots on Calzaghe...and Joe was either completely unfazed, or back in their faces immediately once he was off the canvas. That's extremely discouraging, especially when those types of fighters aren't used to seeing someone react that way to their punches.

I will say the dude's got an iron face, because he's never suffered a broken nose despite fighting like he does. That's very rare to see in a successful offense-first fighter.

No he didn't. You need to watch RJJ's preparation for the John ruiz fight, that documentary on ESPN. You talk a lot of **** and don't know what you are talking about.
