You don't say take it easy when Pacfan84 disses Calzaghe so what are you talking about? The man made his point about the 4 points Pacfan was making. He doesn't have to argue or state his cause the way you need to read it. Pacfan is a known Cal hater, and this guy confronted Pacfans post with his own thoughts. Both guys stated their opinions. Read them again, they are only giving their opinions.
pacfan your a biased ***** and even though i like pacman the fighter calzaghe will go down in history better than manny so go spend the rest of the day arguing u toss pot
Actually he has, I've read his posts. When are you going to post something that isn't trying to be agreeable to everyone with the "fit in" attitude...and give us your true opinion?
Pac fans are hoping Dlh looks better than Roy did so they can justify this fight as legit. It is a good fight in my eyes, but we all know it is a money fight. If PAc beats Dlh...and I think he will, if you thought Cal's fans were crazy acting like Cal beat a prime Roy, Pac's fans are going to call Pac a legend lol...Why fight dlh at 147 when you can fight antonio Margarito at 147? I'll tell you why. Risk/reward. No money in fighting AM at 147( I think it is a money fight), big money fighting Dlh at a catch weight. Pac fans, I've been on to you guys for years. He fought past it Barrera, Morales, and is now fighting Dlh for the money and he fought and picked these fights because of the low risk/big reward. Do you really think beating Hatton if he beats Dlh makes PAc a legend? Get the !#@$$ out of here lol...
Are you saying that RJJ is just as tough a challenge for Joe than DLH is for PAC.. Are you also saying that this is a low risk high reward fight
Calzaghe clearly has enough power to open up a nasty cut on Jones with a straight left. Surprised he didn't go for the knockout, he was still pitty-pattying....I think he had too much respect for Jones. But he as must have power as I have seen him score some pretty spectacular stoppages and seen him wobble some sturdy fighters. He's no Paulie with a record of 32 knockouts.
Sour grapes PACFAN, this is disappointing. It was only a week ago you were trying to convince yourself that Jones might have had a shot with some of the flashes he had shown post 2003... Well he gave it a good shot for the first few rounds before getting an ass kicking. Being so petty as to say that 'this proves he doesn't have an iron jaw' or 'he has no power' is pretty pathetic to say the least. He has suffered a few flash KDs, but he has a good jaw to say the least which I'm sure you acknowledge and has taken a few almighty blows in his times very well. Furthermore, his hand problems and the effect that's had on his once decent dig is well documented. So why do you have to hold up the RJJ fight as proof of this? Sour grapes, and it's just plain sad.
I'm sorry, they don't make pics that show 12 rounds of beating, idiot. All sour grapes and bitching aside, Joe is the best in the world at anywhere from 168 to 175, and has been for some time.
Joe did not walk through with so much ease against Hopkins! Did anyone see Joe switching attacks downstairs and upstairs at will against Nard? No, nobody did because he was fighting his heart out to get back into the fight after 5 or 6... Let it be said that Joe toyed with Roy, clowned and left the ATG empty and cornered. Meaningless fight and Bernard is the only man out there if Joe wants another big fight, he doesn't need to but just in case he wants to...
Yawn. Same tired old nonsense from Beatboxer. How can it be "sour grapes" when I have been saying for months and months on here that Calzaghe would win in dominant fashion, and that I was giving this as a concrete certainty?? If you doubt this let me know and I'll post tens of posts where I state this as a personal guarantee, it's not even just a prediction. You can't be sour about something you knew would happen all along, at least no more sour than I was when the fight was first announced. I have always said it was a sham fight, I'm not changing tac now, why would I? That wouldn't make any sense whatsoever. I started a thread asking if people really thought it could be done and to register some hope purely because a few fellow Jones fans, friends of mine on here, said my unwavering negativity about this contest was becoming a real drag! It was a thread for friends to talk on and hope on, but even on that very thread I did note that I was hoping but that I knew that hope was futile. Joe Calzaghe was dropped by a guy who hasn't stopped anyone in over 5 years, who couldn't stop a blown-up rusty welterweight fighting 10lbs higher than he had ever fought before last time out, who hadn't fought in 3 years or won a fight in 4 years, and who was not even known for a strong chin when he was in his heyday 8-12 years ago at 147lbs. Jones failed to stop that guy, yet he floored a man often said on here to have an "iron" chin. I think it's perfectly legitimate to call said "iron" chin into question, and ask whether it's really "iron", considering he has already been floored by such luminaries as Salem and Mitchell, and by a relatively light shot from Hopkins - who also has not stopped anyone in 4 years. Last night reinforced my belief that Calzaghe has a good chin but not a great one. He hasn't fought enough murderous punchers or enough top-class boxer-finishers, and had to battle through intense pressure, to justify being said to have an "iron" chin. I don't see what is so evil in stating this opinion and stating my reasons for it. Do you seriously still think Calzaghe has good punch power?? Jones was sparked by Tarver and Johnson, but depsite landing hundreds of clean punches, Calzaghe never even had him staggering or nearly going. Again, I have to ask why you think this opinion is reprehensible? I am supporting it with evidence and even if you disagree, it is a perfectly legitimate assessment on the evidence available. I think a fighter with good punching power would have stopped Jones last night. The Jones fight highlighted several points I have always made on here. You are being a child calling my criticisms "sour grapes". Everyone here is aware I have said these things for a long time, and I believe there was further evidence of them last night. You are being very infantile, simply because I do not agree with you. Grow up please.
**** off you horrid little nobody, you're wasting valuable space on a thread that could have been taken up by someone saying something of value or relevance.
It's threads like this that make this section of the forum so good for a laugh. Carry on the good work!
No, for me it is YOU that is being childish by highlighting these two things the latter of which is well known. Yes, we know that this past prime Calzaghe is little more than a SMW version of Chris Byrd in terms of power but the RJJ fight didn't prove it, his numerous bouts over the past few years have....so there was utterly no need to highlight that point at all. In regards to the chin issue, in my opinion Calzaghe does have a solid jaw but is susceptible to being caught off balance on occasion. He has taken numerous sturdy shots as you well know, and has never looked seriously hurt as a result of any of his knockdowns....in fact he generally fights back like a trojan when he does get up....this may be a discussion point, though in the context of what has happened each time Calzaghe has been down, it really isn't a very relevant issue IMO. He has no means got a weak jaw at all, cast iron is a tag for instance La Motta and I don't think any sane fan would have said JC was on a par with him in this respect at all prior to last nights fight. So what did the bout in the early hours of this morning prove again? Not much either way. Which is what I myself insisted all along preceding this fight.
