Calzaghe was very well looked after and his record was padded out with the Tocker Pudwills of this world.

 

I agree, Calzaghe did fight Tucker Pudwill. But then again, nearly every so called great in recent years has done the same thing many times over. Of the legends baxing today, only JMM, Froch and Ward get a pass

American fans love the hype more than the sport. They love guys with big muscles or flashy styles or Hollywood bad ass persona's. They want a boxer that can be the lead actor that no other can rival, a spiderman, superman or batman type.

Boxers like Joe ruin it for the typical American fan. He can fight as well our better than the "best" but he doesn't have what they really love -hype.

When the bird chested man beat up the mini Mike Tyson we felt the hype let us down.
When the fast Roy Jones was too slow, we made an excuse for our hype and blamed a age.
When the executioner got mauled by a slapper we felt sick like watching a movie that gets the ending all wrong.

Joe messes up the script for what boxing should be, its the only reason why people could hate such an awesome and talented athlete. If you're a true fan of the sport, you'll love Joe for what he is and how he did his job. Maybe he wasn't the best, maybe he was, but he sure as he'll deserves respect for being an all time great.

LOL at all the Euro's who think ANYONE at all is butt hurt over Calsalppy beating two "American legends". That just goes to show the status of the UK boxing legacy. A guy who won all of his fights by taking on mid level opposition and walking away unbeaten is being heralded as being great. Oh well, when your boxing history sucks, I guess you will take anything you can get....
