Anyone care to speculate? He's got speed. He's smart. He's hard to hit flush. He has an iron chin. Could he ape Jones before he retires?
I was actully of thinking of this but he hasnt even beent ested at light heavy first and joes speed would definally be reduced carry all that excess weight and his punching power couldnt match up against several cruiserweights never mind heavyweights
Joe picks his punches. That is to say, aware of his hand trouble, he may slap at Peter Manfredo, but would not at a HW. He takes the pain when he has to land the punch. Of course, it all depends on the nature of the injury to his hand. I agree this would be a factor. But remember we're talking about ONE fight for ONE belt up at this weight. He'd get stopped?
You think he slaps? Get a clue. And stop following the stupid sheep-like mentality of reading other mis-informed idiots posts and get your own opinion. I apologize for being rude about it, but it's really starting to get sickening. As for Joe at heavyweight... come on now, this is getting slightly ridiculous. On the other hand, I wouldn't count him out completely. What he would lack in power to put most heavies away he might make up with speed and movement to beat a few of them. Let's not forget, he beat Chris Byrd in the amateurs and he was the only man to do so.
:good PLEASE DO. IF YOUR A CALZAGHE FAN DONT INTERTAIN THIS THOUGHT. JOE WOULD GET TRASHED WITH THESE BIG GUYS. SURE HE CAN BEAT SOME OF THESE FAT NON ATHLETIC GUYS. BUT IF HE STEPS IN WITH ANY OF THE TOP 10. HE'S DONE.
How about you read this post and come back with a valid argument? http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1259061&postcount=15 Lacy was almost out on his feet against Calzaghe. Watch the fight again. Credit to Jeff for staying up, he's very strong. Calzaghe threw everything without breaking his hands.
I think he loses against any top ranked heavyweights, he just doesn't have the power to keep them off him, these men are conditioned to get hit by other big men and Joe just does not hit like a heavyweight.
