Alright, here's what I'd like you to dispute TFFP:

    Footspeed: Jones

    Handspeed: Jones

    Power: Jones

Calzaghe's best assets: Footspeed, handspeed, and workrate.

Calzaghe's chin and workrate are the things he has going for him, but against someone with as much power, footwork, speed of hand/foot of Jones, how does he force himself on Jones without getting hurt or caught repeatedly?

We could assume that Calzaghe stayed in this division because he didn't want to be compared to the greats in the other more storied divisions of MW and LHW, and also by default assume that he would have lost to them due his reluctance to move up or down into these divisions.....at least using that logic.

Except the 3 guys who beat him.

And lets us not forget that many fighters lost to others in the amateurs only to beat their foes in the pros. Different game. (Oh and McClellan couldn't spar for weeks after the fight with the smaller Jones)

    Calzaghe would beat Roy Jones
Jones was good but not that good
a prime Michalczewski could beat Roy too

a prime Steve Collins would give Calzaghe a close fight

Tell you what though - prime Eubank has a pretty good chance against Calzaghe.

Don't forget Naseem Hamed was going to KO Barerra!

The UK media does a great job fooling the boxing public into thinking the fighters they produce are the greatest ever, and when they step up they get nailed down. 16,000 idiots flew over thinking Ricky was going to beat Floyd? They spent how much coming to see the fight, and bet more money on Ricky Hatton than any british fighter in history and lost it all?

Give me a break. Calzaghe beat Lacy and Kessler and he's an ATG? He would have had to fight at 175 in the old days, like say 20 years ago,

I like Calzaghe, good solid fighter, my #2 P4P at the moment...but he will never be #1 in this day unless Floyd loses....thus never the best of the era....thus never one of the best of all-time. He isn't near the status of a prime RJJ...period. A prime James Toney and Bernard Hopkins outweigh a prime Jeff Lacy and a prime Mikkel Kessler. The first two are shoo-in HOF's...and last two likely will never be.

It's ignorant to place Calzaghe on the pedistal this thread-starter has tried to do.

RJJ = P4P king for almost a decade.

    Calzaghe = never a P4P king.

Prime Eubank has a better shot at Prime Jones IMO than Calzaghe does. He doesn't feel that way though, so I will take his assessment before I make my own.

I remember you saying Michael Nunn would give Jones more trouble than Calzaghe. I can't recall any of your views on DM. Who in your opinion poses more of a threat to Jones.

Eubank, Nunn or DM? Assuming the first 2 at 168 and DM at 175?

Benn, McClellan, and Collins? Not so much.

Eubank also loses to Joe, even in his prime, but not as badly as he did when they actually fought.

Jones>Calzaghe, but Jones>anyone else you mentioned as well.

McIntyre and Manfredo would have both beaten the sheep-raping homo if Calslappy hadn't paid the refs for those premature stoppages.

Forget comparing Calslappy to the likes of Jones, that's like comparing a Lotus Cortina to a Ferrari Enzo (Enzo being Roy, as he's Calslappys daddy)
