Nunn is THE style IMO to beat Jones. Tall with a great jab and good boxing skills with good timing. He should have beaten Toney too, but that shot he got caught with was devastating.

Eubank would have been tricky for Jones because he was just as if not more unorthodox than Jones. He had a great chin too. However, Jones would have outpointed him in a helluva show. Probably by the same margin as he beat Hopkins (I think Eubanks could have beaten Hopkins, simply on style).

I really think DM vs Jones would have looked like a more skilled version of Adamek vs Dawson. DM was very good, and IMO a HoF fighter. But he would have been hit by Jones alot and Jones footspeed would have caused him trouble.

Of the 3, I give Nunn the best chance. Though most think I am crazy in this regard. I think there is a reason Jones never fought him even when he was his mandatory at 175.

Though Calzaghe is a great fighter at 168 RJJ would have beat him, and most likely James Toney.

Calzaghe would have beaten Collins, Benn, with Eubank giving him the toughest test of the three.

The Toney around the time he beat Barkley would have outscored Calzaghe over the distance IMO. Jones as well.

I guess I would categorize myself in with the "most" you mentioned in the highlighted bit. Not so much because he has less chance of beateing Jones than the others, but because you seem to think there was quite a legit shot of Nunn beating Jones.

A lot of people seem to take a tall guy with a jab over a speedy boxer. Jones is not one of those speedy boxers, never once showed any kind of trouble with a taller fighter, simply tooo unorthodox. While someone like Floyd would have moajor trouble with a guy like that at his weight, Roy, not so much. Too fast and unorthodox for anyone to consistently time with a jab, and too powerful and unorthodox with his punches for even a tall, evasive fighter to consistently avoid. I think Jones takes Nunn out after having perhaps after a bit of a feeling out process in the first few rounds.

Virgill Hill was tall with a good jab, good boxing skills, and good timing as well.

At 168, the most chance I give anyone of beating Jones is about 25%. That would be what I give Nunn.

I only pick Hagler over Jones at 160, which some don't agree with and some do. (He wouldn't have beaten 168 Jones, which I think is actually faster than 160 Jones and hit harder as well).

Its hard to judge a fighter against another with one of them having not fought at a certain weight at any point in his career, with the other having done so. Its pure guess work when putting Hagler up against Jones at 168lbs. However, your pick is certainly safe, although a question mark hangs over it for obvious reasons.

Hearns would have a very good chance against Jones at 160lbs. Look throughout Jones' opposition at middleweight and you'll not find many, if any actually who had a jab to match that of Hearns, not just in terms of quality, but output as well. Jones' quick counters, the lead left hook in particular spell disaster for Hearns when weighing everything up. Jones knocks out Hearns inside 8 rounds, well I think so.

People can question Jones' chin, but his knockout defeats were at 175lbs against Tarver and Johnson. How his beard would have stood up to Hearns, and Nunn at 160lbs as you stated is anyones guess. It would be interesting to see how often both those guys could land on Jones. They certainly have the handspeed to cause a concern.

James Toney would of beaten Calzaghe at 168 (depending if he was in shape and not overweight)
Roy Jones Jr. would of beaten Calzaghe at 168 as well.
Chris Eubanks in his prime, I see that as more of 60-40 matchup in Eubanks favor.
Michael Watson probably would of beaten Calzaghe.
Nigel Benn would be a 50-50 matchup.
I would favor Calzaghe over Gerald McClellan since he was more of a puncher then a boxer.
Calzaghe would of beaten Julian Jackson. Jackson was too small for SMW, although he would of had a puncher's chance.

It's really hard to predict how Calzaghe would fare against these guys since he has never foughten James Toney, Nigel Benn, or Michael Watson. Chris Eubanks was way past his prime when he fought Calzaghe.

Since who's more of a puncher than a boxer?. Calzaghe the boxer, and McClellan certainly the puncher.

Toney knocks him out. Roy puts him on his ass and out. B-just schools him to a very ugly fight that might be SD. Calzaghe can win that fight prime for prime. Watson could of gotten it done. The 168 division was deep as hell back then. Guys had power and speed and footwork. Not these slow ass clumsy jeff lacy types. That can barely box. Calzaghe is far better the Benn though.. He has a punchers chance only. Eubank could of bet him 50/50 fight.
