True becasue Eubank and Benn First fight was at middleweight and it was only 1993 they went up a weight. Because Watson beat benn at middleweight.

Yes, I remember during Benns and Eubanks era, it was very difficult for the UK fight fan to get to see RJJ fights or, say for instance James Toney fight.

The same even more so for Naseem Hamed around 1997....I'll never forget talking to a collegue of who a big fan of Hamed. He was adamant that he was the best ever. I said yes he could be, I wonder how he would do against Junior Jones or Barrera....His answer 'Who?'

The UK fan was starved of seeing decent USA fighters during that period. I blame Sky for monopolizing boxing and only showing the Sky promoted fight....I believe the uSA would have a similar problem viewing European fighters around this time.

With the advent of the internet and especially youtube type sites the big PPV companies can't stop us all seeing the contenders from both sides of the pond....
.....that is if you want to see them, that is.

I've already made clear Calzaghe wins by default, as they were too scared to create the SMW division knowing full well a future great called Joe Calzaghe was in diapers

As for kg, I have great respect for the likes of RJJ, Winky-Wright, Mosley, Mayweather. That's just of the current bunch

However, I believe some (namely Hopkins and De La Hoya) are vastly overrated, just like some of our fighters

Hopkins resume is full of names, but when you look closer you actually realise it's not as great as it appears on first glance

He will never beat Joe Calzaghe, I'll quit this forum if he does. Infact, I'll quit life

Plus I'd have to burn my Joe Calzaghe T-Shirt I got for Xmas

Calzaghe is a victim of his own success, because he has dominated a division wich has be starved on talent since the mid ninties and early 90's. Eubank and benn were past their best and Jones was ruling at LHW and toney at cruiserweight.

And yet none of them seemed desperate to fight him. What does that tell you. Don't give me any rubbish about Joe not being a draw either, he's blatantly been the best SMW in the world for ages now

Hopkins agreeing to fight and then pricing himself out just about topped it off

Well with Jones, Calzaghe would have had to go to him. Calzaghe wasn't a draw despite being the top SMW in the world for years, because no one in the US knew who he was. So Jones would have never had any incentive to bother with him, and I don't recall Calzaghe ever laying an offer on the table to go up in weight for Jones LHW title.

Remember, Calzaghe is not the big name on a fight with some of the guys, at least not outside the UK, and he would have had to go after Jones to make a fight, not vice versa. I doubt Jones feared him, considering he was fighting men larger than himself already.

Who as said joe was not a draw is last three fights against lacy, manfredo and Kessler proves that he his a draw. Maybe he could have fought between both weights I mean he his always saying that he struggled to meet the SMW limit.

I like how you conveniently avoided mentioning that joke of a man Ol Popkins

Even if Joe had of fought RJJ and somehow lost it wouldn't have made any difference to his legacy. Let's face it, he couldn't exactly have done much worse than Ol Popkins, and it isn't held against him

Nobody is going to agree with your bold statement, I most admit i aint a big lover of JC, maybe its because he beat eubank and I loved eubank at the time.
