Joe Calzaghe doesnt get enough credit for the Hopkins win

Hopkins lost no points during that breather and it was during the first third of the round - there was was then two thirds of the round left and Hopkins clearly won it. You say he stole the round? He won it by landing more punches.

 

Calzaghe a.k.a "Jones Jr's Daddy" should get credit but the Bhop fight was pretty damn close.

 

This is my main problem.

I watched it and re-watched it and I couldn't find 6 rounds to give to Hopkins.

I'm the sort of person who tends to lean towards the boxer who fights more technically, eg I gave Dirrel the win over Froch and Haye the win over Valuev, but I couldn't give Hopkins the win over Calzaghe.

 

I think Williams won that fight Martinez won the first 4 or 5 rounds and then his work rate dipped and Williams took over

it was sort of like Froch vs Pascal, Pascal took an early lead then gassed and Froch took over

as for this fight I think Calzaghe won, Hopkins didnt really do enough

it was close and ugly but at the end of the day Joe did just a little more

I like the clean effective harder puncher usually

but then there are cases where the effective harder puncher doesnt do enough

like Haye vs Valuev sure Haye landed crisp at a high percentage but what 5 shots per round when he had an aggressive Valuev stalking and coming after him

or in hopkins Taylor 2 Hopkins just waited too long to start winning rounds

Sometimes the clean effective guy can still lose
