    The thing that annoys me:

In response to people saying Joe slaps, his fans always say "He sure slapped the hell out of Lacy" or some variation on that theme. That's like Holyfield fans saying "He sure headbutted the hell out of Tyson". The fact that it's effective doesn't make it legal.

Yep, in an utterly dreadful fight against a mediocre opponent, which lets be honest is what most of Calzaghe's career consisted of. People have very short memories and seem to forget about the years Calzaghe spent fighting nobodies, struggling to sell tickets and getting **** poor viewing figures for his fights on Sky. One of the reasons why Warren jumped ship to ITV was because sky had had enough of his garbage as no one tuning in to watch his crap match making with Calzaghe.

Why did you only just wake up to Hopkins after the RJJ fight? Do you consider it OK for B-Hop to cheat like a ***** against fighters who have half a chance to beat him but when he did it against a finished RJJ you lost respect?

B-Hop, along with James Toney, is one of the most overrated fighters of recent years.

Calazghe is streets ahead of them - much more proffesional that Toney and unlike B-Hop he never beat up on smaller fighters.

Name me one fight that either Toney or B-Hop won that Joe Calazghe would not have won too.

I don' think that's the case. Yes, Joe's speed was overrated. But he is seldom given enough credit for actually being tough. Yes, he was tough. He could take a good shot and when he got tagged or knocked down, he recovered quickly.

Offensively, no he was not even in the same universe as a young Roy Jones. He had a fast, fluid style, but his punches were not nearly as accurate or as hard.

Once again the pathetic 'fans' come out the woodwork to give JC ****.

It's obvious that if you're giving Calzaghe **** you have NO clue about his career pre Reid/Woodhall, so you should just stfu.

It's common knowledge that he adapted his style around that time due to his hand problems.

If you're going to have a go at Joe for anything have a go about him not going to the US in early 2000 to try and get Hopkins/Jones, but if you're slagging the way he punches you're only showing your true ignorance about the sport and the fighter.

Joe's dad had zero boxing credentials as a trainer. Joe despite a long and storied career wasnt even capable or didnt know how to punch with the knuckle of the glove. Theres not much point in debating the "speed" of his hands when he wasnt capable of punching correctly and simply threw extremely amateurish flurrys. Joe possesed some very good natural talents. Unfortunately his dad wasnt the right man to harness that despite what Joe achieved in the sport.

It was not overrated. He was lightening quick and also a spiteful puncher in his early to mid career before hand injuries literally ravaged his hands.

He was still quick in his latter career but relied more upon punch volume and work-rate.

At the end of the day, people, usually Americans are always going to try to discredit the guy. But he went his entire career undefeated and beat some top guys.

U obviously aint seen many Mayweather fights, when he usually fights right hand fighters the punch he leads with alot of the time has been the left hook.
