    I like Joe but it's perfectly obvious he didn't maximise his career. We can summise about the reasons for that all we want but we will never be completely sure why he didnt. The temptation to keep making WBO defences & money must have been strong though.

    You can say what you want about Jones & Hopkins. Lets say, for arguments sake, they did avoid Joe & it was all their fault the fights didnt happen. They'd had their defining moments but Joe hadn't. He should have at least cleaned up the belts years ago but didnt.

    How can you call it "skills on display" when he was fighting punching bags half the time? Sure, Calzaghe looks skilled against bums, but how do you gauge him when he didn't fight the BEST?

    I am not a DLH nuthugger. A big fight to me is 2 of the best fighters fighting, period.

    For 9 of JC's best years, he just showed "skills" against nobodies. What did that prove???

    Why are we taking Lacy and Kessler out? What is the point of that?

    You said Eubank twice numbnuts. Also Veit is a nobody who padded his record with nobodies. Reid almost beat JC, and Mitchell was embarrassed by RJJ.

    JC BEAT an aging Eubank, squeaked by Reid, beat an overrated 28 year old with 20 fights named Lacy, and an undefeated Kessler (whose resume was as weak as Calzaghe's).

    Hardly what you'd call P4P #1 credentials...

    You said he'd fought plenty of big fights, we all know Lacy and Kessler were big fights, the point here is that the rest of his career is crap.

    The list you've just come up with proves that, especially seeing as you've got Eubank on it twice :rofl - and the only reason the Calzaghe/Eubank fight had any interest was because of Eubank, not Calzaghe.

    Watch the Kessler fight again if you get chance, it was pretty close - and Kessler is nowhere near as good as the Calzaghe fans are making him out to be. He hits hard but is very limited, just how Joe likes em.

    If Kessler can wobble Calzaghe I'd wager Jones would take his head clean off, which explains the determination to stay at 168 for so long.
