You can pick apart any fighter in historys resume

Hopkins beat welterweights, a blown up Winky-Wright and some bloke called Tarver

Got his ass handed to him by RJJ, and beaten by Jermain Taylor :-(

He's still a legend according to most on here. Top 50 ATG. Or something

It's better to watch, learn, recognize talent and make your list accordingly. Mine has Joe pipping Floyd

I would not have said eubank because he was not the same fighter after his tragic fight with watson.

Ummm... Trinidad and Winky were just as much above their prime weights as Hopkins is above his prime weight right now. So what does a Calzaghe win mean at this point?

RJJ would've knocked JC out. Hopkins did as well as anyone could against a prime Jones.

Jermaine Taylor squeaked by him VERY controversially.

Point is, HOPKINS FOUGHT MANY GREAT FIGHTERs. Calzaghe couldn't even fight blown-up great fighters haha.

Because Hopkins jumped 15 lbs. to beat the reigning Light Heavyweight Champ.

One thing I have noticed about people trying to argue for Calzaghe's p4p status is that they would rather attack other fighters resumes as opposed to simply using his own record to make their point.

Hopkins' path to the undisputed middleweight crown holds far more significance than Joe's whole WBO defending career I'm afraid.

Prime Eubank would have been a different story altogether. I'd pick Joe to beat Collins but Benn/Eubank/Watson would all have been extremely tough fights for Calzaghe in their primes.

There is a difference between liking a fighter, and analyzing a fighter. People are not getting this

There is one impressive thing about Tarver - he had the balls to get in the ring against Glen Johnson, even though he had a broken toe-nail at the time and had been in a nasty argument with his girlfriend 2 weeks before the fight :deal

Hopkins jumping 15 lbs. in weight in one shot to win the Light Heavyweight title at over 40 years of age was more impressive than ANYTHING that JC ever did!

Couple that with Hopkins' against the odds thrashing of Trinidad to unify the middleweight crown & you have a career that eclipses Joe's WBO defending career I'm afraid.

People have forgotten just what an underdog Hopkins was in that fight - he was 37 years old and Trinidad had been destroying everything in his path up to that point, handwraps or no handwraps.

Hopkins didn't just beat Trinidad, he OWNED him, didn Tito even win a single round in that fight?

Add to that the owning of Tarver and you have 2 fights that are far more impressive than the only 2 big fights Joe's been involved in.

    No, it wasn't

Beating the welterweights was more impressive for Mary. At least they were good fighters, if physically handicapped against a very big middleweight

Tarver was just very average. I seem to recall making a bit of dosh for that fight, as Tarver was the betting favourite

Kessler was a miles better win in every respect, and you will soon realise this when Kessler goes on to establish himself as an extremely good fighter. I don't need names, or five hundred million ppv buys to see a good fighter and rank them accordingly and Kesser is damn good
