Looks like a fight with Pavlik after his next one is out of the question, for now.

He should fight Jones, then Pavlik and then three bums until having a 50-0 record.

Maybe he should send another letter to the WBO declaring his intention to re-give up his WBO SMW belt?

Come on guys, get real here... Calzaghe asked to keep his WBO belt, what, 2 weeks ago?? And now he's "definately retiring... probably".... You (booradley, mrplow, dave_the"great", ronaldi etc) really can't see the wood for the trees can you?

Sorry, I'll rephrase that. You can't just jump on the guy everytime he says ANYTHING. It's ridiculous to just lay into him constantly when there's still a massive chance that Pavlik can "tempt him out of retirement" with a massive offer.

i agree.perhaps he is worried he may lose to pavlik.i dont think he will but that poor display against hopkins has given him bad confidence,if he wipes the floor with jones then hw will be confident enough to face pavlik.thats if pavlik can beat hopkins.

He's not going to retire because he's not going to win.

Pavlik doesn`t belong in the same town as Calzaghe let alone the same ring!!

Forget the Hopkins fight. He looked **** in his prime against defensive boxers and often laboured to points wins. Defensive boxers on the back foot are a complete nightmare for his style.

On the other hand, he's looked awesome against every boxer who has come forward and tried to make the fight.

    Which one is Pavlik?

He never shuts the **** up this one. Joe talks ****.

Scar is a fine poster, but if we opened a thread every time Calzaghe opened his mouth we'd have no room for Pacquiao threads...

How will Roy make that happen?

Just as a little counterarguement, Calzaghe got put down by Hopkins who has good power and tremendous timing but was nowhere near to getting stopped.

Roy Jones couldn't stop a middleweight who had been retired for 3 years.

Oh don't get it wrong, I'm not trying to stir **** with this thread, it's only a matter of time before others saw it and posted it. Just keeping people who are interested in a fight with Pavlik in the future updated, I fully understand Joe is old already has the right to retire.
