Reel your necks in..... I have put this through my super computer and Calzaghe wins by SD 115-114 116-114 114-115.
Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Veit, Mitchell, Brewer, Lacy, Kessler who were all at some point SMW world champs. None were in their late 30s or older
Hopkins didnt wobble Calzaghe. He did land a headbutt on Calzaghe at the end of round 7 and threw and follow up punch which looked good, but he didnt wobble Calzaghe and Hopkins lost that round. Ward seems to struggle late on as shown by slow Froch who has a low output and by Bika. Calzaghe can fight the full 12 rounds and Ward lost about 4 rounds to slow limited Froch who has a terrible output. I will be surprised if Bute losses that many rounds to Froch
so you assume that Ward wasnt coasting to victory, so dominant had he been earlier? Which is exactly what it looked like. You always have to alter every observation into a pro-Calzaghe manifest.
Overrated to who? You? Means nothing to me what you think. I just look at the facts of winner of 24 world title fights, 46-0, never beaten, won WBO WBA WBC IBF SMW titles and was rated top SMW and LHW at the same time at one point and beat Hopkins, Kessler, Jones and Eubank to name a few
its amazing that you can write that, given the rose tinted content of your post. no point in arguing anything further with you if objective thought is beyond you.
Not sure if this post is directed to me when I noted that Ward struggles down the stretch but Ward didnt look like he was coasting at all when Bika was slapping him around in round 12, or when Froch was pressuring him. In fact 2 of the official judges had Ward behind against Froch at half way, though I only gave Froch 4 rounds, but was shocked with how Ward was struggling to handle Froch at the finish
You say rose tinted but facts are facts not rose tinted or any other colour. You havent found one counter point, so I would say it is you who has an agenda or doesnt want to see the truth
What kind of sap are you? He clearly won the fight on all three cards. Who wouldnt back off and take it easy if you were winning? dont bother turning that into a pro-Calzaghe manifesto, I expect you've conveniently erased form your memory how often Joe coasted with some of the **** opponents he faced.
predictably you want to say that, I should have known. 11/10 credit for being a devout fan though, and for the amusement factor too, its like watching Mr Magoo.
Nah, man. Calzaghe was/is overrated. He had his chance, and he blew it. Remained content with staying in the UK and not going out of his way to seek the bigger challenges. I'm sorry, but, that fact will remain with him forever. Legacy tainted. Never to be taken seriously. Eventually fading from the number one spot when new guys like Ward build up more impressive resumes. The 168 division is young, and historically, has been a pretty weak one. The bar's set low. Calzaghe will sit and watch other fighters come through and prove to be better than him. Messed up.
Im not turning anything into anything but am just once again telling you a fact. 2 of the official judges had Froch ahead at the halfway stage. I dont agree with that but thats how 2 of them had it. Now I dont know why you have trouble seeing that Ward was struggling with Bika and Froch in the later stages. It doesnt remove from Wards wins. Still did Calzaghe look like he was coasting when beating Lacy for 12 rounds? Lacy was faster with a higher workrate than Froch and their power was similar
