joe calzaghe: I would have beaten ward

I have to agree. Calzaghe would have made Ward look foolish.
Ward was exposed by a slow limited fighter like Froch.
Ward was struggling with the pace and that was a slow fight. Calzaghe would have landed constantly and its not as if Ward has the power to trouble Calzaghe, but we know Calzaghe would trouble Ward.

Unlike Calzaghe, Ward hasnt proved hes the best of the division yet, until he dares to fight Bute we wont know for sure

 

Yes because guys like Hopkins and Ottke were lining up to fight Calzaghe but Joe refusedatschjeeeeeeez

 

Too bad Joe retired. Now he'll just have to accept the idea that Ward can be 2 times the champion he's been.
It would also be very much appreciated if he didn't interfere in that path within the next couple of years. I sense that, on Ward's next big win, Cal will come back with a more aggressive statement. It's hard to see a star brighter than you. Hope I'm wrong though.

Calzaghe was asked his opinion and he gave it, if he comes back with a more aggresive statement then he will be in the wrong, he merely pointed out what allot of other people are thinking.

yes and nor did many other fighters who are avoided, would have been great if Hopkins had accepted the offer to fight Calzaghe back in 2001 or if Ottke had decided to cash out and get his ass rightfully kicked but those fights did not happen and that was not the fault of Calzaghe or

joe lacked the defense ward has and can't throw real punches against a moving target. not to mention his best win was against a 43 year old. Ward beats calzaghe any day of the week. prime calzaghe he beats 7/10, maybe more.

 

Roy Jones was available 10 Calzaghe's entire career and he decided to fight a shot version of him. Younger Hopkins always been around. Griffin was at 175. Tarver was at 175. Otke was around. He never fought the top guys until after he beat Lacy.

 

dont get me wrong Calzaghe can be an *******, still well within his right to voice his opinion.:good

 

:happy:happy:happy thank you. some damn sense. finally someone who can see past the false nostalgia of an unbeaten record. the man fought stationary bums his whole career and never had to deal with anyone with a defense who could counter punch and use lateral movement until he fought and struggled with a 43 year old hopkins. coke boy is the most overrated fighter of all time
