Joe's performance against Roy was great tonight, he showed great heart and a lot of guts. but i personally believe if he fights roy or bernard 5 to 10 years eariler he gets beat by ud or perhaps and very likely ktfo. He gets knocked in the first round against both neither one of them had the reflexes or stamina to finish him off. He fought a bunch of nobody's in europe and towards the end of his career fought big names including an over hyped -- whatever that guys name is that about to fight taylor. ultimately he has no defining moment like jones winning the heavy weight title or 'nard beating tito. im not talking anything away from him im just saying he not great. being undefeated is not a definition of greatness--- hint hint mayweather and im a mayweather fan btw.
Joe is a great boxer. Anyone who can get off of the canvas after being down in the first, on another countries soil, against two of the guys that although old, are still great boxers and great minds (Hopkins especially, as he showed) and then take the fight to the opponent, not just be content to be competitive is a champion. 5-10 years ago, Joe had a much better chin, was far faster in both hands and feet and threw power shots. I think he's more likely to have beaten the Joppy version of Hopkins than he was this version of Hopkins, as Hopkins is cagey enough to take Calzaghe on. Roy Jones Jr? Well, I consider him as close to unbeatable in his prime and I think he would've just been too fast and strong, even for this guy to adjust too.
At the end of the day, true boxing people know the truth!!! he is an ATG, whether he retires now or not.
no doubt, he in the hof for sure but what is his defining moment against a young man? I would like to see him fight a young champ but not dawson i think he beats dawson by ud or ktfo.
Kessler and Lacy were young champs whatever anyone thinks of them. If not Dawson as you say, then Who?
my bad lol i meant johnson not the football player who would probably fare better. as for who he should fight he probably should just retire
