It doesn't matter if the only reason Calzaghe takes Jones instead of Pavlik is purely for money and not because he is scared. The fact will remain that he ducked Pavlik.

There might be many reasons to duck someone, but he knows that Pavlik means more now than RJJ and he knows Pavlik is a bigger threat, if he decides he wants one big pay day rather than add to his legacy he has ducked Pavlik, no ifs and no buts.

I don't think he is scared of him, if he was a coward he would never have faced Lacy and Kessler. But he is taking the easy option as he did for too long in his career and going for money first. That is ducking and it will be a sour note to end his career on.

That said I think people should wait until a fight is announced before mouthing off as if they know for a fact which fight will be made. Lets not forget we kept hearing how he was ducking Lacy and ducking Kessler then we heard he was fighting Woods instead of Hopkins and the whole board (mainly American posters) were ranting on about how he was ducking Hopkins.

By now you would think people might wait before shouting and proclaiming things with such certainty about Calzaghe. But if he does do what is being said, it is a duck. End of story.

 

Ducking means being afraight of someone and I truly don´t think that is the case. RJJ is just more money. period.

of course he's ducking Pavlik. He's friggin 37 years old. He's heading out to pasture in about 3 or 4 months. He would have beaten Pavlik in his prime, but he's a few years past. He's a sensible guy.
