"Joe Calzaghe is scared of Kelly Pavlik" - Jack Loew

I don't need to be reminded, I know all about that and also know/remember that Joe and his promoter hardly mentioned anything nor made a big deal out of it which means they didn't give a damn and were happy signing fights against bartenders and cabdrivers from Wales for Joe instead. That's what I know.
Toney, Jones, Johnson, Tarver, Woods, Hopkins and many others could've been called out, why didn't it happen?, why is it happening NOW instead of when it was supposed to happen?, wasn't not going to America Joe's first and final option?, why didn't we hear about Joe planning or calling for these fights back then yet we heard about how Roy was dominating and showing insane skills and Hopkins dominating his own division, Tarver yelling for a fight with Roy....etc but nothing from Calzaghe and his team?, you can cover up skipping 1 major fight or 2, but not ****ing 10.

 

Yeah, he's confirming that he was waiting for those guys to rot and go below "shot" to sign those papers and travel for them, that's what he's confirming.

All this bitchin about Joe is reminiscent of the search for the 'Great White Hope' saga regarding Jack Johnson. Wasnt the same stuff said bout how Jeff Lacy would destroy Joe, and we all know how that turned out. Get over it Pavlik nut huggers!

when joe fought chris eubank for the WBO title in 1997, his first step up in class, james toney was fighting at CRUISERWEIGHT.

he would never get to LHW, never mind SMW again.

 

does no one not remember that loew was offered the calzaghe fight in october 2006 for pavlik.

loew at the time thought the money was not right and it was to soon for kelly to move up in weight and fight in the uk.

 

Calzaghe's not scared, he's sensible. He's past his prime. He knows it. Pavlik is in his prime, and knows it. Prime for prime Calzaghe schools Pavlik, but he's pushing 37. He's not a two punch a round power shot fighter. He's a speed/agility fighter, and he's lost a fair amount of speed and agility.
And just to address some prior posts here: look at the timeline. There was Never a point where Calzaghe and Jones would have met. Calzaghe was too green at that time to move up to LHW where Jones was fighting, and Jones certainly wasn't coming back down to SMW (even assuming he could starch himself and make weight). The fight simply would not have happened.

 

Here is an Idea, How about Kelly pavlik fight Wright, or Bute or maybe Kessler. As you know, he is fearless.

 

In a sense Pavlik is like the dangerous black fighter that the "White" champion Calzaghe is avoiding due to fear.

You guys ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!! bring up that nothing fighter Jeff Lacy. A guy who never did anything before, while or after fighting slappy.

Bottom line is Joe Calzaghe is very uncomfortable with the thought of fighting Kelly Pavlik.

Slappy Joe has sparred with Lockette and can readily deduce and measure Just how formidable Kelly is! Joe is running like a dog. Its so obvious its disgraceful. Do you really think the Slappy who wanted desperately to fight Clinton Woods would turn down an easy scrap that would further Pad his bloated and mediocre record. These guys have always been Cherry pickers on the lookout for the softest touch available Its why they never fought Glencoffee Johnson who would have canned Calzaghe's ass and its why they want no part of Dawson or Tarver or Pavlik and why after jones this fraud will retire because he will by then have then run out of stiffs.

 

Jack Loew sounds worried. I don't think they want to fight Joe Calzaghe. Tough sounding soundbytes.

 

Kelly Pavlik is a good fighter, I like him. He aint a touch on the 90's Middleweights though. We all know he would have had his arse handed to him during the 90's by at least 10 fighters who are generally rated a class.

 

would you have given credit to joe if he'd beaten a guy who is something like 5-6 at SMW?
