I think the Calzage mafia is entitled to hype the Lacy win to the rooftops with all the bull**** we endured prior to that fight

no because even though pavlik had pretty poor opposition pre-miranda, he beat the middleweight champ who held his reign on the biggest stage of all, beat him again (even though, disappointingly it was a catchweight and non-title fight) and therefore doesn't live with the luxury calzaghe has had his whole career, which is to stay 'beneath the radar' of big fights.

warren is cashing in on calzaghe now because he's reaching the end of his lifespan. the biggest 'risk' he ever took was mikkel kessler and lacy, both of whom he wouldn't fight outside wales, while pavlik fought and beat a prime taylor who beat hopkins twice.

comparing calzaghe's and pavlik's careers might not seem dissimilar considering how poor their opposition was until recent times.

but pavlik garners a lot more respect than calzaghe ever will because he (wait for it) risked it all against a provenworld class operator in his prime.

Actually, Calzaghe beat Eubank way before Pavlik stepped up to fight Taylor. Doesn't look like you've done your homework...

Also, don't act like he really stepped up to the plate against Miranda. If Miranda fought out of Europe you wouldn't know who the **** he is, because he lost his biggest fights and generally hasn't done much except talk a lot

Pavlik's competition is dreadful outside of Taylor, horrible. Yet these people have the nerve to criticise Calzaghe's.

Your absolutely right. "THEY" (idiotic fans/boxing writers) hyped him up. Don't ask me why. I never said he was any good. I saw what he was. A muscle-bound, haymaker throwing, no-skilled circus attraction. It wasn't my hype that helped create Joe Calzaghe into the "ATG" those same idiotic fans/writers claim him to be.

you can sit there and label me all night because you don't know how to respond or....

you can read up and reply to my responses.

i don't have time for you if you don't have enough gonads to back up your post.

now....do you have a defence for what i've said about calzaghe or is "LOLZ" and cheap yoda jokes as much faith in calzaghe as you have?

i know you're british, which is fine, but are you backing him because you're british - or because you have a point of view?

To be fair, Calzaghe and Pavlik's records are pretty similar. Pavlik fought a whole mess of subpar fighters, then KO'd a very questionable fighter in Miranda, and then beat an unbeaten, yet questionable MW champ in Taylor. Calzaghe fought a whole mess of subpar fighters, then destroyed a questionable fighter in Lacy, and then beat an unbeaten but questionable SMW champ in Kessler. It's splitting hairs.

No, newbie. Pavlik is what boxing is all about. Some like the "artistry" of a PBF, or the slapping BS of Joe C. But to me, you know what Kelly's gonna bring.

He's gonna bring the house down on his opponent.:deal

    good post.
but the difference for me, as a said above, is what pavlik was willing to risk that calzaghe never truly did in his prime.

    but you said it well.
