Don't get smart, pipsqueak, or you'll be the one getting schooled.

I also haven't forgot your outrageous claims that the Team Elite HQ is located in the trolley section of the car park of Tesco Berkshire.

And Borenard 'Snaggletooth' Hopkins of all people is the one who robbed me of my vcash.

Froch has his Nottingham, Calzaghe had his Cardiff, Ward has his Jokeland, and Joe.Boxer is looking to have it in..............

Imperial1, may be reluctant to get it on there and is looking for neutral territory. To be continued.

he's a nightmare h2h for a lot of boxers who rank a lot higher than him but fact is his resume is pathetic. best win is vs an old man who he barely scraped by to get the W, the type of guy he would never face in his prime and who proved that with a little more youth he would easily beat slappy joe.

Some absolutely superb posts from HEADBANGER that have dominated and put this thread to rest.

Calzaghe was an excellent fighter, whether you like him or not.

    Let's be objective, forget that he's Joe Calzaghe, and just consider this;

He won 21 world title fights

Reigned as a world champion for over 11 years

joe calzaghe beat 9 world champions 8 of them smw

Chris Eubank, was a 2 weight champion and had 24 world tltle fights

Richie Woodhall was a 2 weight champion and had 6 world tltle fights

Roy Jones Jr was a 4 weight champion and had 25 world tltle fights

Charles Brewer had 7 world tltle fights

Bernard Hopkins, an ATG has 25 world tltle fights

Mikkel Kessler, has 11 world tltle fights 3 x world champion SOON TO BE IBF CHAMPION

Robin Reid had 8 world tltle fights

Byron Mitchell had 8 world tltle fights 2 x smw champion

Jeff Lacy had 7 world tltle fights

if you add all these world champions title fight up it adds up to 121 world championship title fights

1 OUT OF ONLY 3 BOXERS IN HISTORY TO BE UNDISPUTED AND UNDEFEATED WORLD CHAMPION

Joe Calzaghe is one of only 4 men in history to have over 20 title defences

Joe Calzaghe is second longest reigning champion in history

Consider that after losing to Calzaghe, Kessler and Hopkins went on to win world titles.

Just for a moment, put the prejudice aside, be objective and tell me that this isn't an impressive career? Surely you can only conclude that Calzaghe was an excellent fighter. No fighter between 168-175 in history has an easy night with Joe C.

Just one correction Richie Woodhall was only a 1 weight champ, he couldnt win a title at Hopkins division so moved up to Calzaghe's division to claim one.

Other than that, decent analysis, I might put you on the undercard.

    Greetings soulja,

good point, you're right about Woodhall not winning a title at MW, I don't think the SMW division was any weaker than the MW division, Woodhall didn't hold on to that title for too long at SMW.

I'm not making Calzaghe out to be one of the greatest ever, but I'm simply stating from an objective view you have to agree he had a very good career that most professionals could only dream of.

Only on the undercard? Not long til I'm headlining my own shows :rofl

Anyone that actually put biased opinion aside, and actually breaks down Roy at 168 vs. Calzaghe at any point, should pick Roy as the winner...

Styles make fights, Roy at that weight was all wrong for Joe, stylistically... What could Joe do better? Speed? no.. Power? no... Defense? no.. had great heart though, which is unusual but I think that is what gets him knocked out in this fight..

Toney was a defensive wizard with an iron jaw, and was hurt on a few occasions, but was able to weather the storm with masterful defense...

Joe would have fought fire with fire, Roy had more speed, and more firepower.

It would have been a great fight though, Roy would have had to bring his A game... But he wins by KO, due to styles in my opinion.

Not sure what relevance this has with this thread?

But Joe was never close to being stopped, and Jones doesn't stop him either.

I was reading a few pages back, people were talking about it...:yep I am not caught up with the current discussion yet.

But I do think the Roy from the Toney fight stops Joe in dramatic fashion, as I think Joe would keep coming forward... Roy had elite power and speed, at that time, Joe has faced nothing close..ever. So him not being close to getting stopped doesn't matter too much to me, old Roy did floor him though.

    Greetings.

What Calzaghe done, 95% boxers aim for and do not achieve. I am a stern and open hater of Calzaghe, but aint going to deny the respect he should be given. One of the best of my era no doubt, top 10 certified to be honest.

I agree the MW division was just as weak as the SMW division around 1995 - 2005.

Around the Woodhall time period, the MW division had champions such as:-

Holmes, Bradley, Otis Grant, Julian Jackson, Taylor, Joppy and BHop.

    SMW division had champions like:-

Malinga, Calzaghe, Collins, Liles, Reid, Nardiello, Girad....

I would be fair and admit SMW division had probably the tougher champs at that time.

RJJ has better attributes than Calzaghe in every department other than:-

    Workrate and chin.

If Kabery Salem and Byron Mitchell can rock Calzaghe, I am pretty sure RJJ would have whooped Calzaghe's ass with ease.
