For some reason, i don't believe it will be his last fight..neither does Joe Calzaghe deep down.

Given his age and that he struggles to motivate himself I think he is right to hang his gloves up after this, but maybe he will have a good break from the gym after this and have one or two more fights.

It would have been better if he could have had the big fights earlier but it is what it is, he's had a good career.

i am sad about it to be honest, but however i have a sneaky feeling this wont be his last fight, particuarly if he wins well

If it was a good fight in joes eyes, maybe say it fires up Roy comes on and proves his worth in style and Joe still ko's him even emphatically...then this could well be the last fight for him, in his eyes i think thats more than enough !

regardless its big hole to fill by any standard for other british boxers :|

if he wins narrowly like last time out i think he'll retire with his 0 and i won't be particularly arsed. the only fight i'd be interested in and would be remotely possible is froch. i just can't see dawson-calzaghe ever happening due to the risk-reward ratio.

    i believe joe.

    i think he'll retire. :yep

    he's had a 15 yr career.

    he's made his money.

unless hennessy can maybe offer him a mega deal to face froch next summer. :deal

like all boxing fans we wanna see em carry on and on.

ideally i'd like to see joe carry on for another year or so.

take care of froch (if he beats pascal), dawson and someone like glen johnson.

    I don't believe for a minute he'll retire

He's talked about waiting to make the big money etc, why on earth would he retire when he's reached his absolute maximum earning potential (assuming he beats Jones)?

It just defies logic to make the sacrifices and carve out a career and then quit when the mega money starts to flow.

I don't think Calzaghe will retire, He will beat Jones Jr and have a rematch with Hopkins

Bunce was saying that JC has a rematch clause with RJJ. Why would he have a rematch clause in a contract if he is going to retire ?

He won't retire if he loses...hence the rematch clause. I bet its not enforceable if Calzaghe wins.

If Calzaghe wins he retires, imo - there is no way he will risk that 0. Hes 37 now... If he loses he will fight again...

After hearing whats been coming out the last few days - I too don't get the feeling this is his last fight.

Perhaps it's just promotion, but I doubt his "retirement" more now...
