Anyone else think Joe's not punching at full force to protect his hands?

I think he's reserving it for the worst case scenario. If he's in deep **** then he'll be prepared to break some hands but hasn't needed to.

The longer he can let his hands heal and not break.. the better they'll hold in the future.

He punched Mikkel pretty hard...not that many slaps there; was he not thanking his glove maker after the fight for the great gloves...maybe that has a bit to do with it...

Without a shadow of a doubt.

(Hence the open-handed shots at Manfredo - he was going for volume rather than the ko punch)

Watch the fight back. He was putting power into the body shots but rarely put much into the head shots.

nah, he just isn't a massive puncher and never has been, and his punching technique is strange.

his power has definitely lessened over the years

he can still hit pretty hard though.

    kessler felt some of em.

particularly that bodyshot in the 8th rd. :yep

I can see where you're coming from but when he plants his feet and puts everything into it (as in the Mitchell, Sheika fights etc) he can hit pretty hard. He's never been the biggest puncher in the world but I'm convinced that he holds back quite a bit too.

he's always been a volume puncher more than a single punch hitter.

he was overwhelming fighters earlier on in his career.

but he was also really hurting guys as well. :yep

he relies even more so on lighter flurries these days. :bbb

plus he's hurt virtually everyone he's ever fought at some point in a fight. another sign that he's a more than respectable puncher even now. :hey

i agree, he is waiting until he is down on points before he brings back that K.O power he had in the early days!

A prime focused Calzaghe would have stopped Kessler as well.
