Joe Calzaghe moved up and fought the light HW champion - why can't Andre Ward?

His weight class is his weight class. I don't understand the default assumption that a fighter "should" move out of his weight class. Why not say that The Klitschkos' reputations are tarnished because they didn't drop dozens of pounds and prove their superiority at cruiserweight?

Joe Calzaghe was a great fighter, very fast, could adjust, he came to America and beat Hopkins and Roid Jones. SOB Ward will not fight outside of his home town with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc. Stevenson called Ward out live on HBO, but Ward refused to even answer him. Stevenson said he would fight Ward at 175 or even go down to 168, but Ward will not even fight him at 168! Ward does not believe in a level playing field..........

Only time will tell. But I'll be surprised if he doesn't move up soon. He's spoke of ending his career at HW, but as we know, saying and doing are two completely different things.

 

Joe didn't move up after he'd beaten everybody apart from Ottke, in 2003, before Kessler, Lacy and Bika were on the scene.

But I agree that Ward needs to make his move soon. I don't think people want the rematches against Froch and Kessler like they did.

I also can't see GGG moving up to 168.

A Chavez fight might be on the cards, or possible fights against De Gale and Groves, depending on what happens in the near future. But if not, he's got to go up in my opinion.
