A lot of casual fans (and even some pundits) are proclaiming Calzaghe as the greatest British boxer ever (or post-war). Some are biased against Lewis as not being totally British.

This poll isn't who is the greatest Brit, but who was the best in their careers between Joe Calzaghe and Lennox Lewis.

(dunno why i have so few posts now, had about 100 before)

    Lennox Lewis, by a distance.

Lennox has a better resume, and a better legacy.

    Calzaghe has a '0'.

what you mean the same ****?

I know Lewis should get the vote, but I keep hearing top UK pundits like Bunce and McGuigan and fighters like Hatton going on about how he's the best ever so I wanted to see hot many knowledgeable fans actually thought so. Even though some people seem to think it, they're not publicly voting as such.

    Wilde

    Lennox

    Calzaghe

Note..And thats not to say that others go in between those names..I just wanted to point out whos greater and try and give an idea of the margin between them. Wilde is the greatest..Lennox is a bit greater than Joe.

Guys like Ted Lewis, Jim Driscoll, Jack Berg..even Owen Moran could be argued over at least Joe IMO. And of course Fitzsimmons if you consider him a Brit.

Lewis best British boxer of all time imo. Calzaghe top five-ish.

Brits were lucky enough to have these two and Hamed broadly crossover, all of whom should be dead certs for the HoF, even under more rigorous selection criteria than is presently employed. I don't think we've ever been in that situation before, and I doubt we'll be in it again.

Lewis wins this one based on amateur success, I usually rate amateur results pretty high. In the pros, and while I like Lennox and his achievements, I think in 10 years or so, looking back, I might have people agreeing with me that Calzaghe's run was better. But like I said, Lennox started his pro career with a huge achievement already in his bag, so he should be ranked higher, and I don't see that changing in time.

    Lewis

I'd give Lewis a great chance against any HW in history.
