    Thanks for clarifying their "average-to-good"-ness!

I don't think Calzaghe's overrated. If you think about it, there're only two guys that could possibly beat prime Calzaghe around his weight class in their primes in the short time the SMW div has existed: RJJ and Bhop.

And possibly being beaten by those two guys isn't exactly supposed to mean you suck. It means those three guys would've wiped the floor out of everyone else in and around SMW.

He's probably where he needs to be. And he'll still be remembered as an SMW ATG whether we like it or not.

probably the most under-rated boxer of the modern era.

no matter what anyone says about joe calzaghe, there are a few things that cannot be denied

1 - there is no blueprint how to beat him :nono

2 - he was great at adapting in the ring, could change styles to beat his opponent :yep

3 - despite brittle hands, he would have a tare up with anybody. he never held his opponent, he just wanted to go toe to toe :happy

4 - he could fight in adversity. everytime joe was in trouble or knocked down, he came back instantly, went toe to toe and won the remainder of that round :vonnecunt

5 - he wasn't a banned anabolic steroid drugs cheating disgrace like jones, toney, mosley, holyfield etc :-(

6 - he wasn't a vile racist like borenard hopkins :dead

Everyone should praise Calzaghe on being 46-0 fighting average sized me. Definitely. But why not praise SNV all that much more for being, at one time, 46-0 in his prime against FAR BIGGER MEN? Everyone might dare ask themselves that. :yep

Yes, but in absolute terms, surely nobody qualifies as FAR BIGGER than Sir SNV? SNV versus your average heavyweight is like Pascal vs. Pong.

Whether you like it or not, he's an ATG in the SMW division. America or Europe. He may or may not be in the top 100 in the entire sport, but in that division, he is.

Whoa, don't misunderstand. I say the men he faced were far bigger than the ones Calzaghe faced. I've never seen anyone bigger than my god. :nono ...You know...thanks to the UK and USA anti-Russite propoganda machine, boxrec says NYSAC measured him at 7'2. That's impossible as he is no shorter than 7'6.

In the Uk he is massively over rated people claming he is the GOAT or the best fighter of the last decade I think he was underated for many years (but then he didn't fight anyone of note) I think form the majority he now gets the recognition he deserves as one of the best fighters of his era.

I disagree with that prime Roy vs prime cal I think would be comp. but I'm pretty Roy would get the nod without going life and death, faster, hit harder, superior footwork.

Just because they held titles doesn't mean they were beasts!

168lbs is one the of youngest divisions in boxing and hasn't been very deep to date, those names are all good to average fighters not one is great!
