Why is he overrated, he got bashed all the time on this board, tend to make me think he got underrated or underappreciated!!

I think he is very, very overrated, mostly due to the fact that he retired with a zero. He never fought even one single prime HOF calibre fighter, so I don't believe it's possible for ANYONE to rate him particularly highly. The Calzaghe-Hopkins fight with a 43 year old version of B-Hop convinced me that Calzaghe was not close to the level of a Hopkins or a Jones when those guys were prime.

Joe fought the LOSER of an elimination bout.:rofl:rofl:rofl

He didn't go near a prime Jones because he would have been seriously injured.

Not sure how he can be overrated considering the abuse he gets from many on this board. In fact, I think he is vastly underrated by many.

I'm not a fanboy and his style wasn't really to my taste, but I think his attributes would have made him a tough fight for any boxer in any era. His workrate, stamina and punch output was a match for anyone, which when you pair with his excellent chin and skills - particularly his ability to spoil - mean he was very very difficult to beat.

Does undefeated mean untested? Quite often it does.

Untested usually means your level of competition wasn't up to your standard so either "A" you fought the right fight at the right time, or it is possible that "B" you are just that damn good.

With Calzaghe I think a lot of Americans feel it was "A". Personally I don't care, I just thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else thinks. His win over Hopkins was impressive to me.

Considering that Calzaghe gets called overrated about 90% of the time his name is mentioned, no. He is the reverse boxing version of Claude Makelele.

    Excellent chin and skills.

Are we talking about the same guy??

Stanima...he was tired as hell against a shot Brewer..and RJJ

Watch some fights and stop dreaming up attributes the guy didn't have.

I dunno against Brewer, but against Shot Jones Junior he seemed quite lively throughout the fight!!

If you were impressed by the Hopkins fight you should get out more.

You must be in a wheelchair.

Even his Dad thought he lost.
