Yes, you were though. You weren't saying resume isn't the be all and end all, that isn't what you were saying at all. I agree that it isn't the be all and end all, but it is a hugely important factor in determining a fighter's greatness. I think its 50/50 between ability and achievement (encompassing resume). Anyone can look good KO'ing bums. If you KO quality fighters, then you're quality.

Objectivity. Glad to see it still exists.

    No way Calzaghe fights Pavlik.

Calzaghe is at the point in his career that he is thinking about his legacy. He wont take that fight. To much risk to the legacy.... just like PBF

He had the audacity to say Pavlik NEVER mentioned him after beating Lockett either. WTF is up with Calzaghe and this major bull****? It's as if he's taking interview lessons from DLH...or he just thinks fans are stupid.

While I am pretty sure that Pavlik is trying to make more of a name for himself with his allegations - the reasons why Pavlik turned down offers are totally legit; 1st: Who was he then, besides a young kid? 2nd: Because Pavlik gave an immediate rematch to Taylor, doesn't automatically make it he dodged him.

Bull**** dude. You're stretching with this. You have no reason to believe Pav is just trying to make a name for himself. Nothing. If he was just trying to do that, don't you think he'd have jumped at the chance to face Joe? If he was such a "kid" why is Joe claiming he offered him a fight a couple YEARS ago when he was younger?

If they had a rematch clause for an immediate rematch, what does that mean to you?

Would you care to address what Calzaghe is saying? What do Pavlik's supposed allegation have to do with the FACT that Joe is outright misleading with his statements? You can be a fan of his w.o having to be an apologist dude.

WHy would Joe c keep saying Pav doesn't want him when it was Joe C who ignored the challenge, only to go after someone who he said was pointless?

Of course I have, why in the world would Calzaghe dodge Pavlik? He has faced more dangerous and difficult opponents than him.

Second part: I am not really sure you have understood what I wrote. It was in defence of Pavlik(both reasons were). I would discredit Calzaghe to really want to face a even younger no name in Pavlik.

This part makes me quite sure you haven't understood what I said. I am actually making it a possibility that there was such a clause in existance.

How can this argument be made?? Pavlik is the undisputed middleweight champion of the world! He KO'd the former champ--top 10 p4p guy--and utterly destroyed his first mandatory! If Pavlik is a no-name with those credentials, then what was Lacy when Cal fought him?

If you read the OP, you would know that it was in 2006 it was offered.

I see, misunderstood what you meant there...:good

But that argument still does get made and it is ridiculous.

Dawson would be the toughest fight for Calzaghe.

    NP:good

How can it be rediculous, when Calzaghe then was close to 20 time champ, and had just obliterated his biggest threat, and after that offers a deal to a totally untested Pavlik from MW? Unless you just want a paycheck you turn something like that down. Ergo, Calzaghe shouldn't be credited for that offer - quite opposite.
