I fail to see how it is irrelevant - either Pavlik backed up his claim with an offer or he didn't. But lets say that it is irrelevant.

I don't know - you tell me - you are the one that call him the liar.

All I see is excuses from your side to brand Calzaghe as a coward - while I keep to the side how fights gets made. First they can start with a "I will fight you, Calzaghe". Then you make an offer to show that you are serious and really want the fight. If the other party meanwhile says, "He doesn't want to fight me", then Pavlik can prove it by putting his offer on display for the world to see. And JC would be unable to save face. He would have to change his initial claim and make an excuse, "The offer was not satisfying". So far none of this has happened.

All there has been is a public confirmation from Pavlik that he is willing to fight Calzaghe. Maybe Calzaghe only looks if he gets any offers in because those are the only ones you can take serious. Otherwise its just pissing in the wind. You on the other hand try to make excuses for Pavlik not to give a damn in making an offer anyway. That would only have been useful, if Calzaghe had stated, "I have no interest in facing Kelly Pavlik" - but he didn't.

I say you are the one who looks at it too simplistic. All you got is, that Kelly stated publically that he wanted the fight, and JCs No, he doesn't, and then you look at these two statements alone and say, "How can JC say that, when Pavlik has already said he would?", but fights don't get made that way - you know this. All you got is Pavlik screaming in the desert.

 

There's more! Kelly was out of action due to a hand injury during this time period: 9 months from the Zuniga fight to the McKart fight.

 

Why do you find that difficult to believe? All the above would have made Kelly the perfect opponent for Calslappy. Well if you added 15 years to his age it would.
