Joe Calzaghe: Pavlik is full of bulls***

this fight is so gonna happen, most likely in cardiff as joe's true farewell. it's all too similar to what happened before kessler-calzaghe was signed.

That's the fight I have been dreaming about for some time. Best fight out there at 168.

 

If they both win I believe the Pavlik/Calzaghe will happen.

 

I honestly think that if Calzaghe doesn't fight Pavlik, he will never get the respect he really wants. I do think his win over Kessler will be made even more impressive in years to come coz Kessler could beat most super middle to light heavies out there, but to get that stamp of approval that he really craves he has to take out the young american champ and do it in style. Would be a good fight tho!

 

Like others have mentioned i do believe a Calzaghe - Pavlik fight will happen if they can both come through their respective fights victoriously.

However i would much prefer Pavlik to fight Abraham and then the winner fight Calzaghe.

I would actually slightly favour AA over Pavlik.

 

Calzaghe is so full of it. He claims Pavlik ducked him after the Lacy fight. However, Pavlik was a 22 or 23 year old prospect back then. What kind of champ fights prospects? He claims Pavlik fought Taylor again to avoid him, but Pavlik was contractually obligated to fight Taylor again. He claims Pavlik is only calling him out now that Calzaghe is fighting Roy. However, he called him out before the Roy fight was signed. Papa Calzaghe claimed Pavlik had to win 5 to 8 belts before they would consider him.

I am 80% sure this fight is going to happen, Joe is not going to retire if there is enough money to be made.

Yes, there is a significant difference, obviously. RJJ has not been competing at world title level for over 3 years, hasn't been in winning form at world title level for over 4 years. Hopkins may have had a few losses in the past 3 years, but the difference in his competition and performances to Jones's is massive, and he has had some fantastic wins against top top opposition. Do you seriously need this explained??

 

Pavlik, has the personality of a chair, if he really wants the calzaghe fight head to the jones fight and call him out that way just what margarito did to flyod, also needs to start being tested again like he was when he fought miranda (no gary lockett or even hopkins), now joe calzaghe needs to fight pavlik for a respected career in the eyes of many people (who know boxing) its to bad most people dont know F all bout boxing n think calzaghe could fight anybody and destory them! both these boxers to prove themselves need to fight!

well if there was more money to fight pavlik he would of faught pavlik instead, personally i think joe is to cleaver/experienced/fast for pavlik a SD or UD for calzaghe. Pavlik has never faught a tricky fighter like joe, but we know joe seen it all before from a puncher like pavlik

 

I think the logical path after these 2 fights (assuming both Pav & Joe win) would be for Calzaghe to fight Pavlik, which I would guess would happen in Britain as JC would need that hometown advantage for such tough opposition and for B-Hop to take on RJJ ... that would be the perfect fight to finish off both fighters careers.

Both fights could generate good money.

 

do you think calzaghe knows that by saying hopkins is too old and past it he just downplayed and degraded his own career defining fight and biggest winatsch
calzaghe would do better to keep his mouth shut because all he's doing is digging a hole for himself and contradicting himself
as for kessler vs pavlik...i see pavlik being too mentally strong for kessler who to be honest was a deer in the headlights against calzaghe
