But he said he dodged him twice.Calzaghe did mention he wanted to fight him after THE FIRST fight with Jermain Taylor and it still didn`t happen.Who`s full of ****?Pavlik my guess. But its only a guess. With 32 kos,if he`s a slapper is Pavlik a bigger slapper?

Obvoiusly that's not true. Joe C freakin gave Warren the pink slip rather than face Pavlik.

People keep on trying to rewrite history but the truth and the timeline of events is out there. I know that just about every fighter that steps into the ring is accused of ducking but in this case its true. The "paper trail" is a mile long.

I said he receives extra stick and explained why I thought it was valid. You replied to my post directly saying it was invalid. You argued against my point actually.

No, it wouldn't stop him being great or deserving praise, but it would make criticisms of him based on his resume valid.

No. Slapper is not a reference to Calzaghe's power, it refers to his open-handed style of punching. Pavlik punches with his hand closed.

Don't laugh at that. Smiffy and I were getting on better before this thread! And my post did sound a bit arrogant. He's quite correct actually!

Irrational haters will always hate, they cannot be saved, helped, or educated.

If Joe signed to fight Pavlik,

    - it would not change the fact he wasted 9 years from 1997-2006

    - it would not change the fact he should never have taken the Jones fight after he said Jones was 'shot' as far back as 2004

    - it would not change the fact he does not have a resume to match his talent...

BUT it would provoke me to lay off my criticism yes, as he would have done something he has never done - take on a fight with a young undefeated top 10 pound-for-pound champion with KO power. And I would come on here and say I give him great credit for taking the fight and taking the risk when he could've retired with bags of cash and a certain zero.

I was jus giving my opinion not trying to argue.
But I think critisism based on resume is unimportant as u could have faced no one of note & still kick ass. having a bad resume doesn't take away ability. Stephen Hawking could have never gone to college and worked in burger king all his life but he'd still be a scientific genius

This clown is amazing & must think we're all stupid or something.

    Quote by Joe C.

"When Pavlik beat Gary, he actually didn't say anything about me at all afterwards."

    After the Pavlik Lockett fight...

    Max Kellerman:

"Sounds like all your fans here want to see you fight Joe Calzaghe?"

    Kelly Pavlik:

"IS THAT WHAT YOU'S WANT???"...said with a big smile on his face as the crowd roars their approval.

This guy is off his nut if he thinks KP has never asked to fight him. I guess he didn't hear Kelly insult him about "running away" from a fight with him to fight RJJ. And the way Calzaghe fans themselves were disgusted with their hero for BACKING DOWN & refusing to fight KP probably on the advice to Lockett & Daddy Calzaghe proves he's ducking him.

    I think of they both look good it will happen;
This isnt a Floyd situation were you get his fans saying he's waiting for the fight to get huge(Cotto,Margo)before committing, when in reality he'll never dream of getting in the ring with them..........I doubt either one of these 2 is afraid and with a big purse they will take the fight.
I also think Joe calling this(RJJ) his last fight will help the gate of the RJJ fight, and a Pavlik fight.....'hes delayed his retirement to fight Pavlik' sort of promo.

    :-(

No point in us two debating this - I honestly could not disagree any more with this statement. We are poles apart in how we think of boxing. Anyone can look good against poor opposition. To suggest otherwise is lunacy. How can you prove quality by beating up chumps? Let's end this here.

Well not every fighter and every fight, but that was precisely my point. I was never saying it was specific only to Calzaghe, just applying it to this instance. The same applied to Lennox Lewis. He apparently retired because he was scared of the man whose face he had just turned to mush! Had he retired a couple of years earlier he would have been "terrified" of David Tua or Michael Grant. Mayweather is another one, people can't seriously think he's afraid of Cotto or margarito. It was the same with Collins who I doubt very much was genuinely afraid of Calzaghe himself.

However, the point is no less valid in this case. If it wasn't Pavlik it would have been Lacy, Kessler, Chad Dawson or whoever the next "flavour of the month" is, until the fighter either gets beat or retires (at which point he is accused of ducking the next big thing).

Seems as though we're debating about nothing anyway so prob best to just move on?

It doesnt prove u have quality but it also doesn't prove u dont have quality. If the police can't prove u commited a crime it doesnt neccessarily mean u didn't do it. Annoying arent I.
