Andre Ward would win , calzaghe was overrated ducked all the big fights because he knew he would get beat, ward hasnt ducked anyone in his career.

yeah ward will likely prove to be a LOT better than Calzaghe, going on the evidence so far.

but he still has to stick around longer. Remember he has only just unified last year, which is the same as Calzaghe did when 35, so he IS overall still behind Joe even though hes nearly level inhalf the time. Remember Ward may retire this year with a brain disorder, and then you cant really claim he was better without evidence.

He needs to stick around a bit longer yet.

Interesting quote from Bika on the subject

From a man who's faced both of them. Calzaghe wins this fight by decision, speed kills and Calzaghe's ambush like style would give Ward fits. Joe faced many spoilers and beat them all, Ward never faced a southpaw with the unpredictable, fast two handed offence that Calzaghe brings, add in joe's unbelievable punch output and stamina and I take Joe to wear him down and win the decision

This thread reads like an incredibly easy game of Spot the Plonker.

People underestimate that unpredictable style Calzaghe had.. It was certainly hard to adjust to, and If you could, Calzaghe had the ability to adjust to the adjustments:nut... I think prime Calzaghe takes Ward by decision as well, close but clear.:yep

I take it you also rank Rocky Marciano over Joe Louis because he beat him as well. Joe will go down as an HOF'mer for sure, probably the best super middle but some of his fans are freaking delusional. If you count his wins vs RJJ and Hopkins as illustrious victories then you are a plank.

Calzaghe has way too much speed for Ward. Ward is a limited fighter.

Kessler and Froch disagree with you.

  12. Hopkins was good enough that 10/10 yanks picked him to beat Joe, and he was still good enough to beat 2, count them 2 ring champions years later

age doesnt lie. if you are 43, you are 43 and can be beaten by outgassing whoever you are.

    Good point.
Also Terry Norris beat Ray Leonard. Kostya Tszyu beat JC Chavez. Larry Holmes beat Ali. I can go on and on and on. You see the British boxing legacy is not very good. The proof is the fact that all these wankers are hanging their hat on a guy who hid in Wales for years fighting reality show contestants due to his supposed fear of flying, but then miraculously got over it when he felt it was safe to come to the US and fight a declining Hopkins and a shot Jones, then abruptly retire when a young unbeaten Chad Dawson wanted to fight. I guess his fear of an ass whipping, err fear of flying kicked back in. On second though, perhaps it was the mound of coke waiting for him back in Wales.

At the end of the day Calslappy and his girly slapfighting style will be remembered for beating a declining Hopkins and a shot Jones. Be proud of that Mr. Calslappy!!!!!!

yeah like Larry Holmes and Berbick beat 40 year old Ali, oh dear you think I rate victories over past it legends? no i dont, but you do.

You rate Marciano over Louis too. Please do remain in that world of yours and continue to avoid reality.
