I don't hate Calzaghe at all. I think he was a pretty good fighter in a loaded division who didn't seek out challenges. There's nothing wrong with that opinion as it's pure, unadulterated truth.

 

Calzaghe isn't my idol, nor I was ever his biggest fan. I cheered for Kessler in their fight and I acknowledge Calzaghe's skills for beating an opponent like Kessler.

You said that Calzaghe defeated him because Kessler gassed. I don't think so and I didn't see it that way. Kessler was very fit and strong during the fight from my point of view. Calzaghe said what? Kessler's condition looked absolutely fine to me, and it was evident that Joe had changed the approach during the fight.

And throughout this whole thread you were bashing Joe Calzaghe and done the same thing in some other threads as well. I'm not saying that you should praise him if you don't like him, but I don't understand people who spend most of their time trying to discredit boxers either.

I wish his fans would make more tasteful threads about Calzaghe and open interesting topics instead of this garbage. This makes people dislike Calzaghe, i used to for years.

Calzaghe was a really good boxer given his handicap and the way he performed against Hopkins.
He managed to fight on even terms and squeak out a SD against an all time great who went on to reclaim the nr 1 spot.

I think they're using the old adage that bad publicity is better than no publicity.

They're doing the man's legacy no favors though.

One SD and one washed up almost 40 year old.

But then again Calzaghe was 36 or so and had major hand problems. Yet he proved at the end of his career that he belonged at the top and was not just someone who hid behind a belt in the UK.

I guess it´s true, if Calzaghe was black, he would be getting the credit that he deserves. But since he is white he has had the misfortune of the crazy racially bias fans who generate dislike. :roll:
