"I'd like to fight Calzaghe, probably next year after a couple of fights for the British title," said Froch.

"That would be an outrageous win because Calzaghe's a good fighter, a very strong fighter, he's been around a few years, and I just feel I've got exactly what you need to beat him." - Carl Froch at 13-0

"Then when Ashira walked out I almost choked on my cocoa. I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't Baby Jake Matlala.

"I have come to expect Joe to pick on easy targets,"

I believe Calzaghe knows that isn't that hard a job.

WBO rankings at this point stood like:-

    Champ: Joe Calzaghe
    1. Dennis Inkin
    2. Lucian Bute
    3. Carl Froch

Calzaghe never fought any of the three closest ranked fighters.

"Joe says he's looking to make the most money possible from his next fight,........ Given the options open to him, that must mean fighting me. It certainly wouldn't mean someone like Inkin. - Carl Froch.

Fantastic job compiling all of these. Makes Joe look quite unfavorably, I'd even dare say it makes Calzaghe look like a ducker.

The ip (injured party or threatened party in this case) has to provide police with a statement that they were genuinely fearful of the person who issued the threat and that they considered the threat to be real.. And they gave to stress that they are willing to attend court abd give evidence if necessary. Otherwise the CPS wont touch it.

I can't imagine Joe doing that, can you?

"Threats to kill" is something the police will act on with haste.

Again, it all depends on the IP and what evidence they can provide to substantiate their claim, before the CPS will make any decision with regards charging/bailing pebdibg further enquiries or nfa.

l was speaking on criminal assault and didn't think about criminal threats. You are correct in that a criminal threat doesn't have to pose an imminent danger.

In the UK assault can range from section 39, which is classified as "common assault" which can be a simple unwanted touch of an arm to Section 18 (wounding with intent), which be a person blowing someone's leg off with a shotgun.

There's also sections 47 (assault occasioning actual bodily harm or abh, which is a black eye, broken nose) and section 20 (assault occasioning grievous bodily harm or gbh, which is a broken jaw, arm, leg etc).
