And what a scintillating victory it was...

It's a good win in a boring fight. It wasn't the complete and utter domination/destruction that the Zaggots claim.

Does Calzaghe's rep get enhanced by Hops continued success? A little, yeah. But given that the fight between them was a close SD it certainly doesn't 'cement' anything even close to Calzaghe being a top five ATG. That's ridiculous. Just absolutely wrong.

    Against all odds?

Calzaghe was 4-1 on to win the fight, after Hopkins lost to Taylor it was supposed to be an easy nights work Joe against the still effective, but clearly past prime old man. Joe himself thought it would be easy, which was why he suddenly got over his fear of flying and picked up the courage to got to the States. But he got a reality check and realised why he stayed away from the best when it mattered. The only thing Calzaghe had over 43 year-old Hopkins was stamina and work rate (surprise surprise), Hopkins was still the much more skilled boxer and the fight proved that prime Hopkins would outclass Calzaghe, box his head off and probably stop him.

Talk about deluded lol, a prime Taylor beats a weight drained green Hopkins and all of a sudden Hopkins is shot?

Let's get the story straight, Hopkins was prime and peaked against Joe, he was in his best weight class and in his back yard, he ducked Joe in 2002 because Joe was a KO artist aswell as a slick speedster, there was a pact between Jones, Toney and Hopkins to stay well away from Joe and not bring attention to the American public who he was or the networks would demand the fight, instead they all fought cans.

Now when Joe slowed down, looked old, shot, had paralysed hands and one eye off the sport, Hopkins suddenly plucked up courage. Joe got the fight he had been chasing for years. He showed up in Hops back yard completely done as a fighter and blown up to LHW, didn't warm up, went out, performed nothing like he could in the first 3 rounds till he warmed up, then he fought how he does, he fought how Hopkins does to show him he could out box him at his own game too, he swarmed him and was about to stop him till Cortez ruled a tap as a low blow and gave a 5 min time out, Hop was done, gassed out, taking so much damage and he thought '' the judges like a hometown cooking and they are on the payroll'' so he stayed in it against his wishes and still against all the odds he pulled out an incredible victory against an ATG prime peaked fighter in his worse condition ever.

Imagine what a prime Calzaghe would have done had they not systematically ducked him for so many years.

You just been given a history lesson you foul faced cretin, now jog on.
