Okay, but if Hopkins loses, that diminishes Calzaghe's legacy.

Chris Eubank fought Carl Thompsson for a world title at cruiser weight, in a close fight where Thompsson was put on his arse in an early round. There is no way you do that if your "shot". That's like saying Thompsson is a pushover. If you have that idea I honestly think you should just watch the fight.

If we are to dismiss Calzaghes win over Eubank we will have to do the same with Andre Wards win over Mikkel Kessler. I wont do neither of course. The whole idea that wins only count if you catch a boxer on the night he does his career best performence is an Internet warrior concept.

Actually, even card-carrying Calzaghe haters like Herol ignored you both times you said that.

So it's nothing to do with being a "butthurt Calzaghe fan", it was just simply pointing that even people who hate Calzaghe on here didn't care enough about your attempt at showcasing your wit the first time round so you obviously felt the need to repeat yourself.

It wouldn't be so sad and pathetic if you hadn't posted the same comment worded exactly the same way in the same thread in a span of time encompassing less than 24 hours.

Didn't Roy drop Joe Calzaghe ? He also stunned Ledebev ..It happens it's called experience that doesn't mean that as that he was at his best you also have to take into account that against Thompson he wasn't forced to drain himself like he did against. Joe .. And Kessler was the favorite going into the s6 that's rich

I keep coming back to this Trinidad-Hopkins argument..

I remember back then how I felt when Hopkins knocked out Trinidad, I was completely shocked.

The bigger talk back then was the possibility of Jones-Trinidad, as Jones was thought of much higher than Hopkins at the time, who was somewhat unknown to casual fans before that fight. I think I even read where Roy warned Tito not to fight Hopkins.

But Trinidad was thought of as a wrecking machine, even at MW when the fight took place... So what if he was naturally smaller..

    Examples..

Ruiz beating Jones would have been one of his best wins if not his career defining win.

Toney beating 168 lbs Jones would be up there with his very best..

Old man Body Snatcher catching Jones and knocking him out would have been one of his very best wins.

All three of these fights were Roy's first fight at the weight.

I am sure there are countless examples of how many great wins there are when beating a great fighter moving up in weight, but am tired to think.

Trinidad was considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the sport... And Hopkins' performance shocked the entire boxing world, I remember it very clearly... To shrug it off now wouldn't be giving it its due credit.

All in all, I think Hopkins' win over Trinidad was more significant in the boxing world than Calzage's win over Eubank, which I do think gets underrated here by some.
