Wards inactivity has been an absolute travesty but a blessing for Joe Calzaghe's legacy.

Joe has been getting cut lucky breaks all his life.

    bailey,

I understand perfectly why Frank made him take the fight. But it doesn't stop it from being an absolute embarrassment though. He wanted more U.S. exposure, because Joe hadn't gotten enough, due to not wanting to fight in the U.S. earlier in his career.

But Joe was a class act, coming towards the end of his career. Although I have an enormous amount of respect for any pro, Manfredo was a nobody, who wasn't even good enough to win the reality show.

You really shouldn't need telling why it wasn't a good win. You just twist stats. Veit beat someone, who went on to beat someone, who then fought so and so etc.

Why the hell was he fighting a guy for a second time, who he'd already beaten in a single round, just a few years earlier?? The WBO were an absolute joke!

What's Groves got to do with anything? How is that relevant? It doesn't make Veit a good win.

Everyone's circumstances are different. Froch doesn't need to go up. He's only got a few fights left in him, and he can fight Degale in a big domestic clash if he wishes. But he's 37 years of age.

When Joe couldn't get the Ottke fight, he was only 31, plus he was obviously a lot more talented than Carl.

I think Andre will move up to LHW, when he gets back on track. Unless other big fights at SMW can be made.

Again, why was Joe in line to fight Thomas Tate in 2002? It would have been another pointless defence.

Hope you had a good Christmas mate.

Aren't we due the retelling of the Darrin Morris incident?

    It's been a while.

The links below aren't intended to disrespect the life of a former fighter in any way. I have an enormous amount of respect for anyone who steps through those ropes.

But this joke of an organisation, is who Joe was happy to represent for the majority of his career.

They really were a laughing stock back then.

Thats what i heard a lot of years ago. The links seems to have vanished off the net now.
But Frank used pull no names from out of the woodwork back then foe Joe so it can't be that far from the truth. He was ranked #5 after all!

    Because Veit wasn't very good.

And how do we know that Veit wasn't very good? By using our eyes instead of moronic boxrec "logic".

Yes, Calzaghe is the greatest super middleweight of all time.
Arguably, Jones is greater if the toe-to-toe basis is your only criteria instead of accomplishments.

I dont think that is correct. I recall there was pressure to defend against Barr, and they were wanting a better opponent, when Barr was beaten, they defended against the fighter who KOd him

    Is it?
How come he couldnt answer this
    -

Calzaghe only had around half of his world title fight in the country he was living, so please explain?

Why couldnt they? Ottke had SDs where judges had seen things the other way

    Why do you say that?

    Please list them

I know of one that I dont think was very good, but instead of showing a highlight video that doesnt give alot of the lead up, please tell me all the stoppages you are not happy with and why

    Hows that then?

Oh I see you are now upset about Hopkins being beaten in America, oh but calzaghe didnt travel :patsch.
Why would anyone want to see a rematch when Hopkins was looking for timeout and holding to survive?
Also why do you note that Hopkins was the one who backed out of facing Calzaghe years previously

    Darrin Morris mhuahaha!

WBO was a joke in Joe Cal's day.

"all the belts were worth the same for SMW" says Failey. Bet no other boxing org had dead men moving up hteir rankings.

Failey thinks dead men should get better rankings.
