    He retires too soon.
Like Floyd, his problem is that he's not ambitious enough.
That's what I love about B-Hop, he cares about his legacy and will try to improve it as much as he can.
Joe Calzaghe achieved even more than B-Hop achieved when B-Hop was at his age (36). He has a chance to go down as one of the best ever. Why not at least try to get to 50-0 ? Why not beat a young tiger like Dawson ?

The 0 destroys other ambitions. He is close to his prime, didn't have punishing fights and like Hopkins, he can beat at least 90% of the fighters untill he is 40. No need for retirement.

When you are fighting professional fighters, there is nothing safe about staying at any weight. That is only implied by fans who don't like certain fighters or fans who never boxed.

    1. Safer doesn't mean 100% sure. Of course there is always a risk. But if the opposition is weaker, it IS "safer" (=meaning the chances of not getting beat are greater based on available opposition) to stay at a particular division.
I'm not saying Joe did that though, as you said we don't know and can only speculate. But since we don't know, I can't rule out that possibility.

    2. If you're referring to me, I've never hidden the fact I don't like Calzaghe. I don't "imply" anything, I state my opinion about him for everybody to see as I do about all other fighters.
But that doesn't mean I don't respect him, or that I'm not objective when talking about him. I've stated many times in this forum that I have nothing but respect for the man, he's a special fighter and a great, skilled champion.

I'm sorry, but this goes deeper than Calzaghe. I'm talking about the underlined. Fighters fighting at the level of Calzaghe who have relished in the moment of fighting at the highest level in front of big crowds are not scared to move up or down in weight, scared to fight, or lose in general. You, as a fan can't rule out that possibility of whether Joe chose that path, but you can't rule on anything at all since it is only speculation that you brought up even though you say you don't believe Joe would do that. There can't be any implementation of speculation, when you are just witnessing factual information. :good :rofl

Bold part: Of course they're not scared. But don't you accept the fact that some divisions are weaker than others? A fighter could want to protect his record, and choose to stay away from a certain division and/or fighter, and we would never know about it. But no, the word "scared" doesn't sit down well with me either and the moment they enter the ring, they have my respect.

Underlinded part: I can't rule or anything, you can't rule on anything, nobody can rule on anything, since we don't have the needed info on that matter.

PS: And yes, your last sentence was a classic :D

    I am missing Calzaghe already.

Who knows, maybe he isn't retiring.

I would love to see him rematch Hopkins.
