Joe Calzaghe the best fighter of the past 20 years.....FACT

  1. Lewis and Buchanan come to my mind straight away as better post war boxers than Joe

and who cares about losses..... an undeafeted record means very little to me.... Sugar Ray lost 19 times in his career does that mean joe is better than him ???

If Carl Froch beats Taylor he will have already surpassed everything JC managed to achieve in his entire career. Sad but true.

It's another poor attempt at humour and another fail by him. Ignore it.

surely if Haye beats vlad he surpasses joe already? unifying cruiser by beating the man then the competition, then beating the man at HW in his prime?
this debate about joe is well trodden to be honest and NOONE has anything new to add. when it comes to the crunch joe's accomplishments are not astounding, its just that because he was undefeated people dont know how good he could have been if he had fought fighters in their prime. most clued up boxing fans know he would have lost to hopkins and jones in their primes (assuming he didnt already lose to hopkins...)

I agree that Jones would won a fight in their primes, but its far from a "given" that Hopkins would have won a fight at 168 in their primes.

LOL calzaghe barely scrapes the top ten. His record is a who's who of past it's and never were's! I watched the lacy fight again the other day- it was nowhere near as impressive as I originally thought. Lacy came into the fight ruined.

yeh fair play - but im basing that on that their fight was a razor thin decision which could have gone either way, and which joe only really won from the massive difference in their stamina. its a fact that joe didnt land any blows of significance whereas hopkins did. if hopkins was a bit younger and had more left in the tank he would have landed them more frequently and probly taken the decision.
all speculation of course but even a hopkins with 10% more gas would have won clearly in my book. remember how knackered he was in the fight that he had to start all that faking of low blows nonsense - yes i know he was knackered cos joe was at him all the time but still.. dont just file that fight in your memory bank as a calzaghe win because it wasnt cut and dry.

One thing nobody could argue against is that Joe is the best Welsh-Italian WBO belt holder of the last twenty years and for my money - ever!

Stick to retrieving sombreros and wearing celtic sweatbands like a cheerleader.

On top of that nonsense statement you just made, didn't you also compare Joe Calzaghe to Brian Nielsen not long ago?

Put your knives away. Junk posts like this extend an awful thread like this in the first place.

And just how was Lacy ruined before this fight? Looking back on the fight now people can obviously see Lacy was nothing special but for an ex-pro you don't half spout out some serious nonsense.

Nobody other than this thread starter believes Calzaghe is the best fighter of the last 20 years but his post is as watertight as your post.

    Because he says so.

The guy who was decimated by a school teacher has the audacity to criticize the level of Joe Calzaghe's opponents.

    Heard. It. All. Before.

Pish! Roy Jones Jr would have ****ing annihilated him when he was in his prime.
RJJ is probably the best fighter of the past 20 years... although Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield and several others have to be up there too.
Joe Calzaghe is in my top 5 though.
