he had a dodgy start to his career but come good to the end.he is a great,10 years title holder tells you that. people will say he only foght bums but remember they were no 1 contenders to his belt so they must have been half decent to get a title fight.
Good - Very good i voted good coz i dont like him but he aint elite or great no doubt he is between good and very good he must be coz lacy and kessler at best were good
Very Good, maybe low end of great, but just no way of really gauging where he belongs, as he only took on a couple of challenging fights. I could be undefeated if I only fought 10-year-olds; doesn't make me an ATG...
His reign is easily the best-ever at 168 -- maybe he's elite in that regard. He and RJJ are the two top dogs ever for 168, it just depends on whether you count Calzaghe's longevity and accomplishments, or RJJ's athleticism and dominance. I wouldn't label him as anything but good in any other weight category or in any P4P sense.
Being the best ever at 168--IMO Jones=best fighter to fight at 168, but I give Joe credit for what he did there; best reign easily--is like being the tallest midget in the circus... There just isn't the history there. But there will be, one day, and it will be interesting to see how Cal is remembered in say, 10 or 20 years.
great boxer, wouldnt say elite as his resume is still light during the majority of his career. His style is somewhat frantic in his attack but fights like lacy and kessler showed his true ability. however, hopkins made him look bad, even tho he won the fight which i think he did aswell.
elite or e·lites 1. a. A group or class of persons or a member of such a group or class, enjoying superior intellectual, social, or economic status when one thinks of the SMW's of recent years one name stands out, even transcends the division.. joe calzaghe.
