The question is, if he beats Roy then retires, will anyone put him in their top-50 GOAT. I'd put him in the forties.
85 people out of 126 think Joe is a great or elite boxer. Who would have thought? I guess haters make more noise.

I myself have the opposite condition, known as 'Non-Fanboy Rational Realism', which means that even though Manny Pacquiao is my favourite current fighter, I am still aware that he is not an elite fighter. There is not yet a remedy for your disease. Sorry. :hi:

Right, but you're one of the guys whose been telling everyone how great Pavlik is for the last four months.
I must say I found the poll options a bit "confusing". When we say "elite fighters in a division" we don't necessarily mean "great fighters", we mean the top dogs of the division. So one could argue that "great" is a stronger word than "elite" when it comes to boxers... I don't know. Anyway, if elite means "ATG", then hell no Joe is not elite.
I'm sorry you got confused. It was a general view, taking into account all Joe's different achivements, what phrase best describes him as a boxer. Does that help?
when i think of it, it goes like this Elite - meaning the Elite of boxing p4p, not just limited to a certain weight class...also someone who's name can be thrown around with the other ATGs of they're particular weight class, or even other p4p ATGs..... or simply ranked, an A+ class fighter Great - a fighter who's above your average title holder but not necessarily a p4p top 10 or an ATG... simply ranked an A class fighter... example would be like a Ricky Hatton (at 140 not 147) or a Wladamir Klitcshko, guys like that Good - would be a kelly pavlik or joshua clottey....a title holder, one of the best in the division, or if it's a weaker division, THE best in the division....a B to B+ class fighter etc.... but yeah with that said.....i'd say Calz win over hopkins (even if somewhat controversial) took him from a "boxing great" and made him a 'boxing elite' in my book, but i dont think he's a p4p ATG....
