A fighter who probably is one of the most hated in boxing today (taking in to account Calzaghe has retired) and personally i'm not a fan of his either.

It's ridiculous to see people comparing him to Sven Ottke at the end credit must be given to Calzaghe for going 46-0, I thought he got outpointed by Bhop but it was a close decision and this one win alone should make people respect him atleast, not to mention his win over a much more dangerous then he is now Kessler and people also seem to forget he (calzaghe) could actually punch once upon a time aswell before his hands turned to brittle plaster, all in all a HOF career but he is definitly no ATG and he is not on the level of a RJJ or Bhop.

Not as good as the fans make him out to be, not as bad as the haters make him out to be.

Calzaghe's legacy will fade over time....and he will continue to drop down the ATG lists as time goes on....His resume just doesn't hold up....

    It’s simple.

The more the Calzslappers exaggerate his achievements, the more the haters will **** on him.

Its just a case of two extremes, a love/hate style thing it seems.

Calzaghe haters are having a renaissaince for whatever reason, maybe it's that time of the month/decade, but here's the thing:

Every single fighter, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM who stormed onto the scene with an elite performance 'out of nowhere' get serious amount of hate, because the average fan is being brainwashed by major networks/promoters that their fighters are the best, and there's nothing more painful when that delusion meets with cold reality.

Calzaghe haters are people who got owned and humbled to the bone, the 'New Tyson' Lacy supporters, the British haters (who had to learn that Joe is not one), Hopkins and Jones fanboys etc, who rather come up with all sorts of excuses and comments in hindsight than admit they were so wrong.

Calzaghe can be an *******, and has a unique style not for everyone, but nothing hurts the haters more than Joe showing up, doing a number on a bunch of well-hyped fighters and then going out on his own, without a loss. It's incredible.

I don't think Bhops career looks that great, other than Trinidad and Oscar who were both much smaller his best wins were against Tarver and Pavlik. In between beating those fights he fought Calzaghe who I think won quite clearly despite not fighting to the best of his ability.

I was at the at the Calzaghe vs Hopkins fight and I don't think anyone except Hopkins thought he had won!

RJJ in his prime was another class, but I think Joe would always give him trouble due to his style and versatility.

The problem is that the haters are misinformed on the facts regarding Joe's career. Most also twist statements and theories to support their criticsm. There is a profound rufusal to recognise Joe's achievements; people prefer to critise him for what he never did rather than praise him for he did achieve.

Calzaghe gets criticised for his level of opposition but he was one of the best 168 fighters of his era. So as a consequence 90% of his comptetion is going to be inferior to him. We are seeing the same scenerio now with Bute and Ward.

Remember Joe fought and beat the Brinkley's, Allan Green's, Inkin's, Stieglitz's etc of his era. All former champs, mandatory challengers and top contenders.

Hes the greatest super-middleweight of all time imo, i remember making a thread about the ring magazines list of the best fighters of the decade per weight class. They obviously said he was the best f the decade and a somone claimed that he was a fraud who didnt deserve to be call the greatest sm of the decade. Thats just pure blind hate. Clazghe is both overrated and underrated by the fans, there odsent seem to be much middle ground when people are talking about him

    Agree with you pretty much

But one point I'd like to make, we will never see another Joe Calzaghe carbon copy. His style was incredible to watch, over 110 punches a round. His hand speed was electrifying and he excited British fans for over 10 years with his excellent stamina, punch combinations and output
