Former WBO,IBF,WBC,WBA & the Ring super-middleweight champion and the Ring Light-heavyweight champion Joe Calzaghe is Britain's GREATEST EVER FIGHTER.

Calzaghe is the longest-reigning world champion in recent years, having held the WBO super-middleweight title for OVER TEN YEARS and made 21 SUCCESSFUL DEFENCES. Joe also moved up to capture the Lineal Light-heavyweight crown. As his super-middleweight and light-heavyweight reigns overlapped he retired UNDEFEATED with the LONGEST CONTINUAL TIME as world champion OF ANY active fighter.

Calzaghe retired 46-0 and NO other Brit fighter can be mentioned in the same breath as him.

GOD Bless the Italian Dragon Joe Calzaghe :deal

Who did he beat in their prime that was worth a f*ck? He scraped by Reid...

He fought RJJ years out of his prime (and even Joe said in his book that a fight with Roy is pointless due to his fall from grace).

    Hopkins was a great win.

    Jeff who?

Kessler was a good win, but other than beating Froch, his record isn't all that.

Ward would have beaten Joe if they ever met.

The WBO wasn't a proper title when Calzaghe won it, it was about the same as what a belt like the IBO is now. Artur Grigorian had a similar WBO reign in terms or numbers and quality of opposition, it doesn't mean a great deal.

Joe C had a very carefully managed career after the Eubank win. I'm not knocking that as thats what this game is all about. But we cant pretend he was fighting elite fighters for that 10 year missing period between Eubank & Lacey

In fairness to him (and I for one agree, the level of opposition could have been improved upon in that period) he did beat 6 former world champions.

He was some fighter, credit where it's due.

arguing that an arguably pretty damn good fighter who was for nearly his whole career an IBO level fighter was the greatest Brit is pissing on British boxing history. I would rethink your post mate.

its you who is doing a disservice to England, not the people responding to you whatever their racial origin, its you pissing on your own racial origin that is the problem here.

But bare no bones, Calzaghe had some undoubted top talents(fitness, chin, reflexes) as well as some glaring weaknesses (accuracy, power, defense, lack of 'balls').

There's a reason why fighters in his era Toney, Jones, B-Hop and more get more credit than Joe, Joe should have been mentioned with these guys but a lot of his opposition was poor. Still a great fighter though.

I think he could of had a better career and made more money if he would of stepped up the level much sooner, he may not of retired unbeaten but legacy wise the fact is it could of been better... Not to knock the guys achievements, one of the best british boxers of all time. Would of loved to have seen him fight froch aswell, even though it would of made no sense for him to take it at that time. :)
