He is bound to have some wins too?

Joe Calzaghe would beat every single fighter from 160 upwards back then.

Anyway, what makes anyone of Langfords victims better than David Starie, even in terms of resume?

Given that there's 17 weight classes, someone could be a top 10 ATG at their weight and still not be a top 100 fighter. I wouldn't have a problem with someone excluding him from the top 100, but even those who don't like him should all be in agreeance that he's #1 at Smw, 2 at worst if you completely ignore how short Roy was there.

I think with a strong performance against Hopkins and one last quality win, he will be looked at as a top 100 fighter though. If that doesn't happen, any shot he would've had at that will have gone out the window...so, we'll have a very good idea within the year on how to better measure his legacy. It's harder ranking guys when the book's still open on their career.

Either way, being even a top 300 fighter is a hell of an achievement. Even the most ardent Calzaghe detractor has to give him that much. I think he's top 100 by the time everything's said and done.

Well, except Welsh fighters CAN fight for titles. There are champions all over the world. There is no coalition against Welsh fighters that stops them from becoming mandatories, and there are very few exceptions to fighters not having to face their mandatories.

Not the same back when Langford fought. They are not remotely the same. You are talking about perceived discrimination based on certain circumstances that may or may not exist, as opposed to stated racism in a country that was very open about it.

    Or vice versa......

What makes Starie any better than anyone else?

Welsh fighters in their prime in the early 00s cannot fight the top names however. At least Langford got a few name opponents. Calzaghe up until very recently has had it harder.

Why can't they? You have not answered my question. Not fighting them doesn't mean they can't fight them.

Calzaghe has had it harder on his own in some cases. He could have very easily vacated his division to get better fights. He made his own choices. Hopkins ducked him a while back, but there were other options. As well as becoming mandatory. Other fighters have accomplished such a feat.

He had 200 of them, what is your point?

That is your opinion, and I'd rather not get into the modern vs classic debate right now. We're talking in terms of resume here, nothing else.

Because they had much better resumes, that's why, how much simpler a question can you ask? What makes Joe Calzaghe any better than Reggie Strickland?

Taking all of Langford wins and loses into account, he was pretty hit and miss with the top end contenders of his day.

Calzaghe dominates all the top end contenders of his day and champions I assume.

This is about resumes, not what some random crazed fan thinks his favorite fighter/person would do in a different era. My argument above was that Langford has a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better resume, you're trying to turn it into a case of modern vs classic by saying that Calzaghe beats everyone that fought in that era regardless of weight class.

Obviously someone 5'6 who started at LW and fights most of his career against LHW's and HW's is going to have some losses, especially if he is constantly fighting the best, and forced to throw some fights.

Langford just fought a load of David Starie standard fighters (resume wise) and did a lesser job than Calzaghe doing it.

To be honest, not take anything away from Calzaghe, but the best fighters that are on his resume is Lacy, Kessler, and over the hill Eubank. He has never beaten a hall of famer that was in thier prime. He is mainly known as fighter with great skills that defended his title against lesser opposition and never wanting to leave the UK to fight. Even Kessler had more top 10 wins than Calzaghe did.

Dont get me wrong, the man has skills and is one of the slickest and exciting fighters i have watched. But he does not rank in the top 100 of all time, but only in the top as a super middleweight.

How do you know? Have you examined his resume? If you did you'd know what you are spouting is pure nonsense. Then again, that's all you ever spout.

David Starie hammered Clinton Wood who is one of the best LHW of the last few years. Starie is just as good a name.

Sweet Pea. Your arguing with someone who can't see past Calzaghe, and will talk of his resume like he's SRR.

Calzaghe against Hopkins........the Lacy fight all over again IHO.

    Say no more.
