Eubank, Reid, Lacy and Kessler......how many of those will be in the top 100 do you think? Those are his best wins, so how can he be rated so highly?
You mentioned excitement in the same sentence as Calzaghe V Starie, now I know you're taking the **** :rofl :rofl :rofl I'll give you a wide berth from now on, now I know you're not serious.
No, it wasn't, because in doing that, he compared Walcott(one of the best, most accomplished fighters of all time from WW to HW) to Robin Reid, assuming that Walcott was only highly regarded because of his fight with Langford, as Reid was regarded because of his fight with Calzaghe. But that is not at all accurate, being as Walcott was a brilliant fighter outside of his fight with Langford as well. Reid fought well against Calzaghe, otherwise his career was unspectacular, so he can't be compared to Walcott, who fought well against Langford, and had a fantastic career otherwise as well.
I know this. But you have to understand the mentality of CHJ. The guy is very adept at taking the most ridiculous ideas and concepts and making them sound credible. Guys like Reid and Starie are nothing special and everyone knows this. However, CHJ is clever enough to make it seem like they're a whole lot better than they actually are. Now anyone who follows the sport won't go for it. However, they may be inclined to be drawn into a serious debate with a guy who's not being serious. This of course, will just leave the other person frustrated.
Reid also beat legend Ottke. We all know Ottke was corrupt, robbing fighters like Reid but he beat Starie, Brewer,Mitchell. He absolutely outclassed Glen Johnson as Hopkins did. Reid - Ottke is infamous. Reid only has one shameful loss, against Branco, where is it regarded his head was wrong. Reid was a great medal winning talent and Calzaghe beat him on an off day with a poorly hand. Calzaghe is simply one of the best fighters of all time. Top 10, that is beyond doubt...where in the top 10?... Arguably subjective. There is a reason there are no holes in his record. The sooner the world catches on I am right, the better.
Which is exactly why I stopped the debate right there. Then you chimed in, seemingly to help out his cause and push me further into this debate.
No he didn't. Only people who understand the subtle greatness of Ottke can understand what happened in that fight.
He is clever. But his cleverness is how I know when he has conceded a point. Or run out of things to argue. He says something less clever. Misdirection is befuddling if you look the other way. Reid for instance lost to Lacy badly. Lacy was an overrated American who was never that good to begin with according to Calzaghe fans. This by default, removes Reid from any argument of being good. His own thoughts on the subject of Lacy damn Reid. (Reid was old, but he never takes that into account with other fighters)
Unfortunately the answer is no, and an ancient Bernard Hopkins will not change this. Too many wasted years.
Anyone trying to reason Langford is greater than Calzaghe and significantly greater than Reid will be frustrated. Try and argue a true top 10 great like Roy Jones, Tszyu is 10x greater than Reid and it is easy. Langford and dozens, upon dozens of the old-uns are not on the level of Calzaghe and Jones and Leonard. There is a hige difference between the Robinsons and the Langfords. Do not confuse them.
I am not frustrated in the least. Perhaps I am missing your point....or seeing them for what they are. Either way, I am unmoved.
