This was originally posted in the General and I trot out that line from time to time to g up the masses. Do I actually believe it? Nah. To early to say about either IMO but I feel in time I will probably side with Ward to win and have the stronger resume, given he is quickly approaching. No one beats Joe easily at 168. I will say though I think it's a myth that Ward faded against Froch...He still outlanded him pretty clearly IMO and wasn't far behind in terms of workrate and aggression..Plus he was still able to muscle and bully Froch around for the most part. He think he backed off the gas a little because of his hand and Carl did what he always does and thats come on strong in the later rounds...mostly out of desperation IMO.
I often get the feeling that a lot of posters have only ever seen Calzaghe in with Hopkins and Jones. Calzaghe wasnt simply workrate although it would be interesting to see somebody impose that pace on Ward in a fight. Earlier in his title reign he was also packing a harder punch. He had excellent boxing ability and could change game plans during a match, he was much more versatile than anybody Ward has faced. Calzaghe is a class above the likes of Carl Froch. Although this would be a tight fight, not a pretty one either but Calzaghe wins via decision.
