I'm not so sure Joe is in his prime anymore.

I only read the first two pages of this thread but i'am add my two cents in. Joe is a good boxer, a very good boxer. But if i'am correct Joe has been trained by his dad all his life and his father has no boxing experience but that really does not mean too much but it mean something.

As of right now Im going for bhops.. his style of boxing is too nice. Its like a combination of old school and new school. Look at the list of competition Bhops and that not counting who he fought in the streets or jail.

Enzo boxed as an amateur and learnt the sport through obersvation of fighters and trainers. He has trained up
several champions from small talent pool and dramatically improved other fighters who moved to his stable. He is one of the leading trainers in the world today.

Just watch how he has Gavin Rees fighting and you will apreciate the breathe of his boxing genius. Enzo clearly knows 'old school' as well as anyone.

Dorfmeister, mate, you are a very good writer and very intelligent poster. Your analysis is very penetrating, subtle and thorough, more so than the analysis of pretty much everyone on ESB. Yet you inexplicably lose your nerve when putting two and two together and miss the woods for the trees, dammit!

Maybe it's your idealism that lets you down. You manage somehow to convince yourself that the underdog can do it, when, according to your very analysis and form shown so far, as seen by you, no less, he shouldn't...:huh

I think Calzaghe I'll give it his best shot to stop Hopkins. I'll be very impressed if Hopkins sees the final bell!:yep

Really? I'll be surprised if Hopkins doesn't make it to the final bell to be honest. If Hopkins is one thing, it's a survivor. He's so tough and has a great chin.

But perhaps I overrate his durability at this stage in his career.

I don't think it will be the chin that lets him down, but stamina to keep the relentless fast swarming at bay...Hopkins is a survivor and he is tough, but he is 43...and Calzaghe will come in very motivated indeed, in great shape. He knows he cannot really rely on the judges with Hopkins' style...Hopkins will try to cling and clinch and buy resting time, and the ref might abet him. Even so, Calzaghe better use his strength and find space. He needs to stop Hopkins not to come out of the fight behind, I think, given the age difference. A lacying would do but given Hopkins' style, it's never going to be a text-book lacying...so he'll have to stop him.:think

Hopkins will bring all the different skills that the European guys just do not posses. The lead right hands, the great lateral movement, the shoulder roll defense, the hitting and holding and unorthadox attack from close quarters.

Joe will bring his almost technically perfect style of european boxing. His unorthadox style of combination punching on the inside. His ultra quick hand and foot movement. His superior stamina and workrate, and his willingness to trade when the time comes
