Most people seem 2 think Calzaghe will beat Hopkins & would beat Pavlik & Taylor if they fought, but what about the bigger Chad Dawson. I think this would be an incredibly dramatic fight.
    Who do you see winning?

I have Calzaghe as P4P No. 3 at the moment - he would hand Dawson his ass. A good young fighter, but not ready for Joe.

    Their paths will never cross.

With a bit more experience Dawson could well do it. Doubt the fight will ever happen though.

Dawson is a beast - I'll take him over Calzaghe.

Dawson still has to validate himself as a legit elite fighter IMO, and he has a chance to do so by beating G.Johnson (who no B-level fighter beats)and then the Tarver-Woods winner. Calzaghe is obviously more established and accomplished, and if this fight would happen now, i'd give him the edge, especially since dawson's a guy who's used to being quicker than his opponent, which he wouldn't be against Cal.

Dawson is a much bigger and stronger guy: three-inch height and reach advantage. He would be too much for Calzaghe.

Dawson is bigger and stronger than Calzaghe and would give him fits with his style. This is really a pick em fight and even some of the biggest diehard Calzaghe fans like Amsterdam will even admit this. IMO this is one of the better fights out there that should be made.

This could be the next logical fight if Calzaghe can defeat Hopkins and he will stay in LHW, however I see Calzaghe-Jones as a bigger event in terms of money and fame. Jones-Trinidad did 500.000 buys and if Calzaghe can defeat Hopkins on free HBO Calzaghe-Jones with a 24/7 can make 750k.

I'd like to see a Calzaghe-Dawson fight in 2009 however 2008 will be the last year for Joe (that’s what he said) and who can blame him if he chooses Jones after P4P-er Hopkins?

Of course, before any of this could happen, Joe have to defeat the biggest name of his career in April...

Very tough fight. I'd love to see it. Could go either way.

It sounds like Dawson is rated as being the best light heavey by many and from what i have read and heard that praise seems justified. Calzaghe will only fight the really big names stateside such as Hopkins, RJJ and maybe Tarver so going in against an harder challenge for less acclaim will appeal less.
Maybe if someone decides to give Dawson a real push and throws some money at creating him as the next big thing we may see it late in the year but I still find it unlikely.

Calzaghe has got to fight Clinton Woods for all us Brits but a fight between Woods and Dawson would be very good. Dawson should win but Woods would give him a very hard test. The lad has improved in every fight ive seen him in and still has great desire.

Dawson would win. He's a lot bigger and better than Kessler and Lacy (JC's biggest wins). He's too young, too large and has all the tools. Kessler was a little too slow and predictable and Lacy was exposed as one-dimensional. Dawson has the complete skill set and he's bigger and stronger than JC with just as much speed plus more power.

    Dawson UD Calzaghe

Calzaghe knows he's past his prime @ 35/36, he's obviously gonna take the easier fights 4 more money like RJJ, Taylor or Pavlik. But hypothetically who do u think would win if they fought in say April.
