Well no, not literally... But it was a heavy KD and how Calzaghe reacted to it was very impressive. For the record, Mitchell was a decent banger. But it's besides the point.
Why doesn't he? Won every one of his fights, something Hagler didn't, he lost to Bobby Watts, Willie Monroe Sr. Sugar Ray Leonard and draws with Sugar Ray Seals and Vito Antuofermo
I’d fancy Calzaghe by decision. The bigger man and would also have the advantage in hand speed, engine and reach. No chance he stops Hagler though.
What could Hagler do better at 168 than at 160. He isn't getting stopped I'm certain of that. Is he going to be any faster on his feet ? No, Faster hands ? No, better stamina ? No, maybe a little bit more pop on his punches than at 160, I think Joe's faster hands, flurries, in and out, doubling and trebling the jab will ease Joe to a narrow competitve UD with Hagler having some big moments, if we're talking prime for prime. I know one thing. Joe won't gamble and back himself in a fire fight here. I see Joe being on his bike making Marvin miss and then reacting with those flurries that catch judges eyes.
We never seen Hagler above MW.... so would never know how he'd fare carrying the extra weight. Hagler was made of iron and had superb conditioning, but Joe's conditioning was unbelievable as well. That combined with being the bigger man, faster hands and proven in the higher weight class I'd be backing Calzaghe on points.
